About The Position

This role is accountable for the investigation and settlement of Commercial property damage claims. The successful candidate will accept notice of claims, work with customers and preferred vendors to resolve claims efficiently, confirm policy coverage, maintain detailed file records, process claims payments within their level of authority, and initiate salvage and subrogation procedures.

Requirements

  • University degree in any discipline or a college diploma in one of the following programs: 2-year diploma from a provincially recognized and funded community college in Insurance, Law & Security, Loss Control, Business Administration or the CIP designation
  • 5-8 years experience adjusting property claims
  • Familiarity with Guidewire system
  • Proficient in MS Word and Excel
  • Professional, friendly and courteous in all interactions, whether with customers or co-workers
  • Able to perform well in a busy operation and remain calm under pressure
  • Team player adaptable to a changing environment
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills

Nice To Haves

  • Experience of commercial property claims would be an asset
  • Licensed in New Brunswick, PEI and Newfoundland would be an asset
  • Bilingual capabilities (French and English) would be an asset

Responsibilities

  • Accepting notice of claim and working with the customer and preferred Vendors to resolve the claim quickly and efficiently
  • Confirming policy coverage by ensuring the facts of the claim fall within the scope of the policy
  • Maintaining detailed file records by entering pertinent data into the appropriate systems
  • Processing claims payments within level of authority after verifying claimant's entitlement
  • Initiating salvage and subrogation procedures on assigned files
