About The Position

The American Red Cross is seeking a highly motivated Senior Business Development Lead to drive growth within our expanding Clinical Apheresis Services (CAS) business. This individual will play a critical role in developing strategic partnerships with hospitals, transplant centers, cancer programs, physicians, and healthcare systems seeking high-quality therapeutic and collection-based apheresis services. This position is ideal for a business development professional or clinical subject matter expert with established healthcare relationships, experience working within hospital environments, and a passion for improving patient access through innovative clinical services. This role is well suited for individuals with scientific, clinical, operational, nursing, blood banking, transfusion medicine, or healthcare administration experience who are interested in expanding into a business development role. As a key member of the Business Development team, you will identify, develop, and close opportunities across the Clinical Apheresis Services portfolio, including Therapeutic Apheresis (THAP), Peripheral Blood Stem Cell Collections (STEM), Photopheresis (PACS), Red Cell Exchange, and related patient care services. This position is responsible for business development across the Western and Central United States. The final territory will be determined but is expected to include the West Coast through the central U.S., excluding the Northeast and Southern regions.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Life Sciences, Nursing, Healthcare Administration, Business, or related field.
  • Minimum five years of business development, healthcare sales, clinical, operational, or hospital experience.
  • Demonstrated success developing customer relationships, managing complex healthcare stakeholders, or driving business growth initiatives.
  • Experience working within hospitals, healthcare systems, transfusion medicine, oncology, hematology, cellular therapy, transplant, or related clinical environments.
  • Experience engaging executive-level healthcare leaders and influencing cross-functional decision makers.
  • Ability to travel up to 40%.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor's degree or higher.
  • Experience supporting therapeutic apheresis, stem cell collections, photopheresis, transfusion medicine, cellular therapy, oncology, hematology, or transplant programs.
  • Established network of contacts within hospitals, academic medical centers, physician groups, transplant centers, or healthcare systems.
  • Knowledge of FACT, AABB, FDA, CMS, Joint Commission, and other regulatory requirements associated with clinical apheresis services.
  • Experience supporting commercial cell and gene therapy collection programs is preferred.
  • Individuals with nursing, clinical operations, laboratory, blood banking, transfusion medicine, or healthcare leadership experience who are interested in transitioning into a business development career are encouraged to apply.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute strategic business development plans to achieve revenue and growth objectives within the Clinical Apheresis Services market.
  • Identify, qualify, and close new opportunities with hospitals, academic medical centers, physician practices, cancer centers, transplant programs, and healthcare systems.
  • Build and maintain relationships with key decision makers including physicians, nursing leadership, transplant coordinators, cellular therapy programs, blood bank leadership, laboratory directors, hospital administrators, and supply chain teams.
  • Lead complex consultative sales engagements from initial outreach through contract execution and implementation.
  • Collaborate with internal experts across Clinical Apheresis Services, Operations, Medical Affairs, Quality, Laboratory Services, and Process Development to develop customized customer solutions.
  • Serve as a trusted advisor by understanding customer clinical needs, operational challenges, and emerging trends in therapeutic apheresis and cellular therapies.
  • Represent the American Red Cross at industry conferences, professional societies, customer meetings, and regional educational events.
  • Maintain an accurate sales pipeline, forecast opportunities, and provide market intelligence to support strategic planning.
  • Support growth within existing customer relationships through cross-selling additional clinical and therapeutic services.
  • Contribute to the development of new clinical service offerings based on customer feedback and healthcare market trends.
