The Senior Remediation Manager is responsible for supporting, managing, directing, and overseeing technically complex projects involving Facility/Site Closure, Remediation, OM&M, and Post Closure care performed for Company owned (or leased) locations. Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Chemical Engineering or related required.
  • 7-10 years of relevant experience.
  • Experience reviewing and interpreting technical specifications, plans and drawings, as well as regulatory compliance related documentation.
  • Project and field construction management experience.
  • Ability to work in both a Team environment and independently.
  • Must have very good writing, verbal and presentation skills.
  • Proficient in the use of PC Windows based applications.
  • Ability to travel 25-50%.

Responsibilities

  • Ensuring that Health and Safety is the number one priority by complying with all safe work practices, policies, and processes and acting in a safe manner at all times.
  • Provide technical support for project cost estimating and review, and subcontractor selection and contracting/procurement.
  • Manage or support individual environmental liability project reserves, providing 5-year zero-based reviews for each and maintains spending at or below the budgeted levels.
  • Responsible for assuring that Service Agreements and Purchase Orders are in effect prior to engaging outside consultants and subcontractors or incurring outside direct costs; Hold outside consultants, subcontractors, and other service providers accountable to negotiated commercial and contract terms and conditions.
  • Manage and track POs against invoices to support processing through Accounts Payable.
  • Participate in monthly spending reviews with the Director of Facility Closures, VP of Remediation & Disc Ops and the Environmental Accounting Manager.
  • Support quarterly budget reviews validating actual spending and providing accurate spending projections by individual project reserves.
  • With guidance and direction from the Director of Facility Closures, prepare updates to quarterly, YE and long-term projected spending to be included in the Environmental Liability Database.
  • Support internal and external audit requests as required and directed by senior management.
  • If required, participate in weekly project status calls with the Director of Facility Closures, VP of Remediation & Disc Ops and SVP of Environmental Liabilities.
  • Prepare and submit any/all Reserve Creation, Reserve Modification and/or 5-Year Zero Based ReviewForms as required and in advance of committing Company money and other resources.
  • When possible and practical, seek creative solutions such as innovative technologies which will expedite the work effort and will provide a favorable reduction in reserve spending, all while remaining in compliance with applicable laws and regulations.
  • Directly responsible for creating and maintaining complete and organized electronic Project Files containing all correspondence, submittits, test results, permits, consent orders, purchase documentation, contracts, equipment inspection reports etc.
  • Meet all imposed deadlines for regulatory submittals.
  • Provide e-copies of key submittits to the SVP of Environmental Liabilities for filing at the Corporate Office.
  • In cooperation with the Company’s Compliance organization, ensure the timely renewal/updating of all permits and regulatory compliance plans, where applicable for Disc Ops managed locations; Contain the Company's environmental risks, liabilities, and related reserves by performing Closure/Corrective Action/Post-Closure work using the most capable and qualified internal and external resources, and executing the work at the lowest qualified cost to the Company.
