About The Position

AmericanAg®, a global provider of diversified reinsurance services, is seeking a Senior Reinsurance Analyst for its Schaumburg, Illinois office. This is a hybrid position requiring a minimum of three days per week in the office. The role is crucial for the financial quarter close and the accurate processing of reinsurance contract renewals. The ideal candidate will have experience in reinsurance accounting, contract management, information systems, and databases.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
  • 6+ years of experience in information systems, preferably in insurance or reinsurance information systems.
  • Experience working in property/casualty insurance and reinsurance.
  • Experience with Power BI (reports, data modeling, DAX).
  • Experience with BusinessObjects (reports, queries).
  • Experience with Microsoft Excel (DAX, Power Query, VBA).
  • Experience with Microsoft Access (forms, queries, modules).
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to work with both technical and non-technical users.
  • Strong ability to manage multiple tasks and support cross-department initiatives.
  • Authorized to work in the U.S. for any employer without the need for employment visa sponsorship.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience working in SICS is a plus.
  • Reinsurance accounting experience is a plus.
  • CPCU and/or ARe designations are a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the primary system administrator for the SICS reinsurance processing system, including setting up and maintaining contracts and processing rules, performing batch processing, and overseeing workflows for operational and financial reporting.
  • Lead key components of the financial quarter close process, ensuring SICS outputs are accurate and aligned with accounting timelines.
  • Interpret changing business requirements and implement them within SICS.
  • Provide users with accessible, analyzable, and understandable data through reporting solutions, including designing, building, and maintaining BusinessObjects reports, universes, and ad hoc data sources.
  • Design and build Power BI reports, datasets, and applications to support self-service reporting.
  • Train employees on the effective use of BusinessObjects, Power BI, SICS, and data warehouse tools, providing ongoing support and creating user documentation.
  • Promote data literacy through training sessions, workshops, and one-on-one guidance.
  • Design and build additional applications and utilities to support business operations and reporting, including leading or managing IS projects.
  • Collaborate with business units to understand operational needs and deliver solutions that enhance efficiency and data visibility.
  • Develop a thorough understanding of the company’s business model, reinsurance operations, financial processes, and strategic priorities.
  • Serve as a liaison between departments for data- and system-related initiatives.
  • Support ad hoc data and reporting needs.
