About The Position

Jane Street Group, LLC has multiple openings for a Senior Regulatory Specialist in New York, New York. The position duties are as follows: Provide regulatory reporting and capital management for Jane Street's broker-dealer entities, ensuring compliance with SEC Net Capital Rules (15c3-1). This includes producing daily net capital reports, monitoring real-time trading positions to prevent capital breaches, researching regulatory changes, and maintaining and monitoring automated capital monitoring systems.

Requirements

  • A 3 or 4 year Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, or a related field or foreign equivalent
  • 4 years of progressively responsible experience as a regulatory specialist or similar occupation at a registered broker dealer firm or foreign equivalent
  • 2 years of experience producing and reconciling daily net capital reports and monthly FOCUS filings for a broker-dealer
  • 2 years of experience working in a multi-jurisdictional regulatory environment, including tracking, analyzing, and incorporating regulatory updates across different regulatory bodies such as IFPR, MAS, SFC, and SEC
  • 2 years of experience collaborating with and writing functional and data-architecture specifications for internal technology teams to build custom regulatory capital infrastructure
  • 2 years of experience using Python for regulatory capital calculations and portfolio monitoring
  • 2 years of experience using VBA to automate Excel reporting of daily net capital reports and monthly capital files
  • 2 years of experience monitoring intraday capital requirements and working directly with trading desks to manage capital allocation, including analyzing capital impact of large and/or new trading flows, realtime monitoring of capital usage relative to limits, and communication of costs and charges to traders

Responsibilities

  • Calculate daily net capital positions by aggregating instrument types, applying regulatory haircuts, and comparing prime broker margin requirements against regulatory capital requirements
  • Monitor real-time desk positions and capital allocation via capital-monitor to prevent intraday breaches
  • Investigate alert triggers for potential misbookings or limit breaches and coordinate with trading desks to resolve issues
  • Track SEC and FINRA regulatory updates and analyze how rule changes will impact broker-dealer operations
  • Analyze how new trading flows and instruments impact net capital requirements under SEC Rule 15c3-1
  • Create technical specifications for software development teams to automate net capital calculations and reporting
  • Develop Python and VBA scripts to automate reports on net capital, haircuts, and deductions
  • Prepare and file monthly FOCUS reports with the SEC, including reconciliation of internal trading data
  • Collaborate with auditors and regulators during exams to justify net capital calculations and compliance methodologies
