About The Position

The Sr. Regulatory Compliance Specialist is a liaison between the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and Alaska Airlines Maintenance and Engineering (M&E) division to ensure the highest standards of Airworthiness are maintained. As an individual contributor, the Sr. Regulatory Compliance Specialist is a subject matter expert in the development and implementation of an integrated, comprehensive Safety Management System (SMS) for the M&E division incorporating procedures to identify and maintain compliance with current safety-related legal, regulatory, and statutory requirements.

Requirements

  • A minimum of 4 years of aviation airworthiness regulatory compliance experience or related area.
  • Effective communication skills (e.g., verbal, written, and listening).
  • Detail-oriented and highly organized, with ability to multi-task and work independently with limited guidance in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications (e.g., Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook).
  • Minimum age of 18.
  • Must be authorized to work in the U.S.

Responsibilities

  • Exercises considerable judgement to liaise between the FAA and Alaska’s M&E division to ensure regulatory compliance
  • Research to provide explanations to Federal Aviation Regulations, regulatory policies and procedures to ensure compliance with internal and external standards and controls
  • Acts as a subject matter expert in analyzing regulations to make recommendations to M&E leadership to support compliance with aviation industry and FAA regulatory standard
  • Conducts quality compliance review of Self Disclosures and Compliance Actions and analyze corrective actions and process improvements in response to review findings
  • Partners and coordinates with legal department to identify potential risk and other matters, including assistance with civil penalty mitigation
  • Assists in overseeing SMS for the M&E division to ensure it incorporates procedures to identify and maintain compliance with current safety-related legal, regulatory, and statutory requirements
  • Supporting liaison between M&E division and all other division within Alaska airlines supporting compliance with our SMS program
