About The Position

As a Senior Regulatory Compliance Engineer, you will own global regulatory compliance for all Tive hardware, ensuring every product can be legally sold and used in every market served. This role involves managing all product certifications worldwide, leading compliance for new products through NPI, and ensuring products meet regulatory requirements on the first pass by working closely with hardware and RF engineering. You will also be responsible for keeping shipping products compliant, owning battery, lithium, and dangerous goods compliance, and managing environmental and labeling requirements. Additionally, you will manage test labs, certification bodies, and in-country representatives, maintain compliance documentation, and serve as the go-to regulatory expert for various internal teams. Collaboration with Trade Compliance and external third-party test labs is crucial, as is preparing and submitting technical filings for regional regulatory approvals.

Requirements

  • BS in Electrical Engineering (or equivalent)
  • 5+ years in global regulatory compliance for wireless, cellular, and battery powered hardware

Responsibilities

  • Own all product certifications worldwide: radio, EMC, safety, telecom type approvals, and carrier certifications.
  • Lead compliance for new products through NPI, from defining requirements to certification sign-off before launch.
  • Design for compliance: work with hardware and RF engineering (pre-scans, antenna, RF debug) so products meet regulatory requirements on the first pass.
  • Keep shipping products compliant through certificate renewals, re-certification after product changes, and tracking of new regulations.
  • Own battery, lithium, and dangerous goods compliance, including airline approvals.
  • Own environmental and labeling requirements, such as RoHS, REACH, WEEE, and regulatory markings.
  • Manage test labs, certification bodies, and in-country representatives, along with the certification budget.
  • Maintain the global compliance tracker and customer-facing certificates.
  • Be the go-to regulatory expert for Sales, Support, and Operations, prioritizing requests based on demand.
  • Partner closely with Trade Compliance so product approvals, markings, and import documents line up with customs and export requirements in each country.
  • Coordinate with external third-party test labs to review test plans, quotations and manage schedules, samples, bug fixes, and re-testing.
  • Prepare, review, and submit technical filings for regional regulatory approvals, including FCC (USA), ISED (Canada), RED/CE (EU), and MIC (Japan).
  • Support hardware engineers colleagues involved in debugging certification failures (SAR, OTA, Protocol, RF EMC) and drive root-cause analysis.
  • Maintain Declaration of Conformity (DoC) records, and compliance summaries for production clearance.
