About The Position

The Senior Registered Nurse is a licensed professional who uses Parkland’s nursing professional practice model to coordinate patient care delivery by the healthcare team. Using the nursing process, the RN assesses patients, identifies nursing diagnoses based on their responses to health problems, develops and implements individualized plans of care, and evaluates patient responses. The RN applies knowledge of patient needs and the healthcare environment to help patients move through healthcare encounters without preventable complications or delays. The RN delegates interventions to healthcare personnel in accordance with the Texas Nursing Practice Act, each patient’s condition, and employee competencies. The RN conducts ongoing assessments, collaborates with other team members, exercises independent judgment, supports patients and families with education, and helps direct and train non-nursing and newer nursing staff. The position may include serving as a Charge Nurse on rotation and participating in community outreach as assigned.
