About The Position

Senior Sales Manager – Research Products & Services Location: New York City: All 5 Burroughs and Long Island Fisher Scientific is building a bridge between business and science as the industry's definitive single source for a comprehensive range of laboratory equipment, chemicals, instruments, life sciences reagents, and consumable supplies. This also includes safety-related products like cleanroom and controlled-environment supplies; personal protective equipment (PPE); firefighting, military, and first responder equipment and supplies; and environmental monitoring and sampling equipment. Discover Impactful Work As a Senior Sales Manager, you will lead a high-performing team of sales professionals responsible for driving growth across research products and services in a defined region. This is a strategic leadership role focused on coaching, business development, and execution excellence — ensuring that your team delivers value to customers while meeting ambitious sales and profit goals. You will play a pivotal role in defining the commercial strategy, expanding market presence, and nurturing customer relationships that accelerate innovation across the life sciences industry.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree required; Science, Business, or a related discipline (advanced degree preferred).
  • 10+ years of relevant, industry-specific experience, ideally in the research laboratory or life sciences sector preferred.
  • 3+ years managing others in a Sales Environment preferred.
  • Proven track record in sales leadership, including coaching, territory management, and exceeding growth targets.
  • Strong business acumen and analytical capability.
  • Exceptional strategic selling and presentation skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to motivate and develop teams in a fast-paced, matrixed environment.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with executive presence.
  • Proficiency in CRM systems and data-driven sales management.
  • Ability and willingness to travel for customer meetings and team engagement.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and Inspire: Provide strategic direction and day-to-day leadership for your regional sales team. Set clear goals, foster accountability, and create a culture of performance and engagement.
  • Drive Growth: Develop and execute regional sales strategies to achieve revenue and profit targets, ensuring strong market penetration and customer retention.
  • Pipeline Management: Oversee opportunity pipelines to ensure consistent deal flow and accurate forecasting aligned with business objectives.
  • Strategic Selling: Personally engage with key customers to identify unmet needs, propose innovative solutions, and strengthen long-term partnerships.
  • Market & Competitive Insight: Stay ahead of market trends, emerging competitors, and new technologies — integrating these insights into business planning and team enablement.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with marketing, supplier management, and internal support teams to align commercial activities, pricing strategies, and operational execution.
  • Performance Management: Analyze team metrics, sales reports, and customer data to identify opportunities for improvement and ensure accountability for results.
  • Brand Stewardship: Represent Thermo Fisher Scientific with integrity, professionalism, and enthusiasm at all customer interactions, trade events, and industry forums.
