Requirements

  • At least 8+ years of excess Healthcare insurance leadership experience.
  • Knowledge of market segmentation, portfolio management, acquisition, and distribution
  • Proven Strategic Leadership skills in developing vision and purpose, driving for results and leading effective teams.
  • Established strong relationships with customers and intermediaries.
  • Skilled leader of change; versatile, client focused, results oriented.
  • Demonstrated business savvy, analytical and quantitative skills.
  • Expert technical underwriting background
  • Strong problem solving and conflict resolution experience.
  • Strategic orientation, managing vision and purpose, developing organizational capability.
  • Talent assessment and development for bench strength and succession planning.
  • Proven collaborative leadership skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment making quick decisions while adhering to a sound underwriting discipline.

Responsibilities

  • Manages all Healthcare underwriting within an assigned Branch Office and handles referral decisions for the most complex portfolios.
  • Takes on a strategic component in the development, implementation and evaluation of all underwriting strategies and guidelines within a Lexington zone, including pricing, marketing, staff, business development, renewals, budget/expenses, and new product development.
  • Illustrates sufficient technical analysis, has a strong underwriting acumen combined with the necessary sales and marketing skills to achieve profitable growth targets.
  • Coaches, trains and develops junior staff to their fullest potential.
  • Produces, underwrites, manages and services a profitable book of business.
  • Utilizes underwriter authority in accordance with the published underwriting guidelines.
  • Manages a portfolio of renewal and new business including accounts made up of complex risks.
  • Seeks out and secures new and profitable business.
  • Effectively negotiates and secures policy terms that align with the company directives, especially utilizing new product and service offerings to bring value to the client.
  • Develops and manages underwriting strategies for both renewals and prospects within his/her portfolio of accounts, including knowledge of the current penetration by product, and specific plans to increase company share.
  • Develops, positions, markets, and delivers innovative, market-leading products and services through regional framework to a network of producers in a manner that effectively leverages our strengths as a competitive differential in the marketplace.
  • Develops framework for underwriting authority.
  • Demonstrates understanding of regulatory and compliance processes and ensures AIG stakeholders understand the Lexington Healthcare business model, underwriting methodology, and the risks assumed.
  • Supports an effective reinsurance strategy that supports our risk appetite for per risk and aggregation.
  • Proactively fosters and develops positive relationships with key customers.
  • Develops tools and strategies, in collaboration with HR, to attract and retain top industry talent and develop high performing teams.
  • Drives a culture that promotes collaboration, diversity, and inclusion.
  • Coordinates strategy and works collaboratively with other aligned business functions including claims, actuarial, and consulting.
  • Works alongside Distribution Partners, (Business Development Managers and/or Client Directors) to effectively maximize our distribution partner network.
  • Provides direction and support to junior underwriters on new and renewal business.
