About The Position

As the Senior Reliability Assessment and Performance Analysis Engineer, you are responsible for developing models of the bulk power system, overseeing the work of technical groups, performing simulations using commercially available software, and supporting activities related to the NPCC and ERO work plans.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering (BSEE) or equivalent bachelor’s degree in engineering with related training.
  • Minimum 5 years of electric power industry experience.
  • Proficiency with transmission planning software tools such as Siemens PSS/E, TARA, PowerWorld, GE-PSLF, or equivalent.
  • Competent and knowledgeable in bulk transmission planning, power system modeling, and performing system studies
  • Ability to work effectively with multiple levels of management.
  • Acute attention to details.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering (BSEE) with a specialization in power systems.
  • Experience performing steady state and transient stability simulations.
  • Experience performing electromagnetic transient (EMT) studies.
  • Experience performing geomagnetic disturbance (GMD) studies.
  • Experience performing short circuit studies.
  • Experience performing energy assessments and resource adequacy studies.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee the development and validation of models to support NPCC and ERO Enterprise activities.
  • Perform steady-state and transient stability studies using commercially available software.
  • Collaborate on the performance of energy assessments using commercially available software and the preparation of related narratives as necessary.
  • Oversee the work of NPCC technical groups charged with addressing emerging reliability issues.
  • Present NPCC regional perspectives to ERO initiatives, industry stakeholders, committees, task forces, and working groups.
  • Develop relationships with NERC, Regional Entity, and stakeholder personnel to enhance coordination efforts and improve existing processes and procedures.
  • Provide guidance and training to other engineers, as required.
