About The Position

AECOM is actively seeking a talented Senior Rail Systems / Senior Catenary Engineer for employment within the New England region. This role offers the opportunity to work alongside experienced rail professionals across the US, focusing on delivering projects for transit clients with an emphasis on electrification and overhead catenary systems (OCS). AECOM's Transportation business line is dedicated to building, modernizing, and expanding transportation projects that ensure safe, expedient, and cost-effective mobility for growing populations. Requirements

  • BA/BS in Civil or Structural Engineering or related field plus 8 years of related experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education
  • Professional Engineer (PE)
  • Valid US Driver’s License required to visit project sites, clients, and other AECOM offices
  • As a condition of employment, selected candidate must have a Valid Driver's License and pass AECOM's Motor Vehicle Records review
  • Strong analytical and communication skills

Nice To Haves

  • 10 years' experience in railway systems (Overhead Catenary Systems/Traction Power)
  • 6 years of related experience in railway (overhead catenary systems, traction power, track)
  • Experience with AutoCAD, Microstation, GEOPAK, OpenRoads or OpenRail
  • Experience working with Connecticut Department of Transportation, Metro-North Railroad, Amtrak, MBTA, or other passenger/commuter railroad agencies
  • Work on multiple projects simultaneously
  • Excellent written and communication skills

Responsibilities

  • Be an integral part of our WORLD CLASS RAIL DESIGN group
  • Develop overhead catenary systems layout drawings, profiles, hanger tabulations, erection diagrams and technical specifications
  • Perform quality control reviews and design checks of railroad projects
  • Lead major tasks
  • Ensure compliance with all federal, state & local regulations
  • Serve as a project manager on mid-large size projects
  • Coordinate team and provide technical expertise for mid-large size projects
  • Develop overhead catenary systems layout drawings, profiles, hanger tabulations, erection diagrams and technical specifications
  • Lead technical client relationships related to design, construction and phasing of the work
  • Coordinate with multiple departments related to a project's scope of work
  • Mentor staff to develop a team to support work throughout New England and beyond
  • Develop and maintain strong client relationships
