About The Position

Performs system troubleshooting and BDA/DAS system design for radio and wireless communications systems. Requires hands-on installation experience (5+ years) in the radio and communication area with extensive knowledge/understanding of two-way radio theory and communications systems. Must be able to program, troubleshoot, and perform system diagnostics on simple and complex radio systems. Requires knowledge of industry-standard test equipment, battery backup systems, base stations, repeaters, multicouplers, duplexers, and basic networking skills. Proficiency in computer operations including Microsoft Office suite and specialized radio programming software is necessary. A strong background with RF Theory and the ability to read blueprints & drawings are essential.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of hands-on installation experience in the radio and communication area.
  • Extensive knowledge/understanding of two-way radio theory and communications systems.
  • Ability to program, troubleshoot and perform system diagnostics on simple and complex radio systems.
  • Knowledge of industry standard test equipment including service monitors/analyzers, watt meters, and hand tools.
  • Knowledge of battery backup systems, base stations, repeaters, multicouplers, duplexers, and basic networking skills.
  • Computer operations including Microsoft Office suite and specialized radio programming software.
  • Strong background with RF Theory.
  • Ability to read blueprints & drawings.
  • Associate degree (A.A.) or equivalent from two-year college or vocational school in electronics & wireless system repair; plus, one to two years related work experience in electronic communications repair; or equivalent combination of education & experience.
  • Valid driver's license.
  • Good driving record.
  • Able to pass background check.

Nice To Haves

  • An FCC General Radiotelephone Operator License, CET (ETA), or equivalent industry certification is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Repair and provide technical support and documentation for Low Band, VHF/UHF, and 800/900 MHz analog and digital systems, mobile and portable subscriber equipment, simulcast, conventional, trunking, paging, telemetry, and microwave systems.
  • Installation, maintenance, and repair of base systems, repeaters, remote controls, multiplexers, antenna systems, microwave systems, battery backup systems, and solar power systems.
  • Install and maintain dispatch console equipment.
  • Diagnose and repair PA systems, BDA/DAS systems, and other electronic components.
  • Train junior technicians and provide leadership to team.
  • Supervising and scheduling the DAS team.
