MITRE’s Missile Defense Agency (MDA) Program Division seeks a MITRE staff member with a passion for radar systems engineering. MITRE N262 MDA Sensors and C4ISR Department provides technical expertise to MITRE’s MDA Program across the Ground Sensors domains. As an experienced electrical or computer engineer, you will apply engineering principles and expertise to bring technical solutions to bear on the government’s toughest challenges in the acquisition, design, testing, integration, verification, and fielding of ground radar capabilities. This position will work within a Radar program office and help as part of an integrated product team lead strategic technical roadmaps for ground based missile defense radar development. The job is a Senior Step, Huntsville, AL-based position; this work location is on-site and required to effectively foster staff and government relationships and shape the direct work program.

Requirements

  • Typically requires a minimum of 5 years of related experience with a Bachelor’s degree in electrical, computer, or systems engineering, or similar engineering degree, or 3 years and a Master’s degree; or a PhD with relevant experience who can immediately contribute at this job step; or equivalent combination of related education and work experience.
  • Active Secret clearance with the ability to obtain and maintain a Top Secret/SCI clearance.
  • U.S. Citizenship required.
  • Applicants selected for this position will be subject to a government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information or applicants who are eligible for security clearances.
  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills.
  • Demonstrated experience in radar engineering and defense systems engineering
  • The job is a Huntsville, AL-based position; this work location is required to effectively foster staff relationships and shape the direct work program
  • This position has an on-site requirement of 5 days a week on-site.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in sensor target tracking and discrimination techniques
  • Demonstrated experience in technical leadership and strategy/issue resolution development to complex sensor challenges
  • Experience in Missile Defense Agency systems and programs
  • Master’s degree in engineering or similar field and with at least 5 years of experience
  • Technical expertise in a relevant sensor or radar engineering domain
  • Known as a team player, ability to work independently with a team environment with loosely defined objectives
  • Recognized as a thought leader and one who dynamically and proactively executes leadership and consensus decisions
  • Experience in Space Domain Awareness missions.
  • Active Top Secret Clearance

Responsibilities

  • Lead technical radar systems, software, and hardware development and capability updates, as the Radar product office Technical Advisor throughout the integrated product teams and with external stakeholders, across multiple end users
  • Develop technical sensors concepts and recommendations that consider risk, extensibility, and affordability
  • Develop and implement plans for prototyping and assessing future radar concepts and capability development
  • Work with Systems Engineers to develop functional, performance and interoperability requirements for radar capabilities added to operational baselines
  • Assess performance of radar systems, software, and hardware engineering studies to inform program management decisions
  • Technical acquisition support to the government program management, contractual statement of work (SOW) development, technical contract evaluation, and contract negotiation technical expertise
  • Have willingness to work within a government integrated product team environment partnering technical outcomes across multiple stakeholders and organizations
