About The Position

Tempus is seeking a Senior Research Associate to join the R&D Solid Tumor Pod. This role will support the development of new tests and processes for deployment in their clinical lab. The position involves developing and executing experiments using advanced molecular techniques under the mentorship of Lead Scientists. Tempus' proprietary platform connects real-world evidence to deliver actionable insights to physicians, aiming to improve patient treatment outcomes through AI and technology in healthcare.

Requirements

  • A Master’s degree with at least two years of experience, or a Bachelor’s degree with at least three years of experience in a molecular laboratory.
  • Highly organized and systematic, with superb attention to detail and ability to complete tasks with a high degree of accuracy.
  • Strong analytical and conceptual capabilities, interpersonal skills, and ability to communicate with clarity.
  • Proven ability to learn new skills quickly and adapt to new processes smoothly.
  • Ability to work effectively and efficiently in a dynamic environment with competing projects and deadlines.
  • Interprets results and uses these data, along with literature precedent and input from subject matter experts, to modify experimental plans accordingly.

Nice To Haves

  • Hands-on experience with NGS library preparation methods.
  • Hands-on experience with PCR methods such as: PCR, qPCR, RT-PCR, ddPCR.
  • Hands-on experience with Sanger Sequencing.
  • Hands-on experience with MLPA.
  • Hands-on experience with nucleic acid ligations.
  • Hands-on experience with nucleic acid analysis such as: quantitation by absorbance/fluorescence, gel & capillary electrophoresis.
  • Hands-on experience with magnetic bead-based DNA/RNA purification and size selection.
  • Hands-on experience with DNA hybridization arrays.
  • Experience with Next Generation Sequencing.
  • Experience with robotics and automated liquid handling systems.
  • Experience in a clinical laboratory.
  • Knowledge of LIMS platforms and various computer systems.

Responsibilities

  • Support the development of cutting-edge molecular assays for a high-throughput CAP/ CLIA/ NYSDOH accredited clinical lab.
  • Design and execute molecular protocols with a high degree of precision and attention to detail.
  • Support multidisciplinary teams through the generation of datasets used to build new assay features and analysis algorithms.
  • Generate detailed documentation of experimental execution.
  • Assist in troubleshooting and quality control initiatives.
  • Assist with the development of automated processes.
  • Identify and implement improvements to existing processes.
  • Travel within the US 1-3 times per year.
