About The Position

Research and Development Engineering at Cardinal Health is responsible for performing research and analyses to develop design options for components, products, systems and processes. It also involves developing and implementing new products through adherence to established design control processes and good engineering and documentation practices. The primary purpose of the Senior Engineer, R&D is to lead efforts to design, develop, test and refine new cloud software to support medical devices for Cardinal Health. This role specifically assists in the creation and improvements to cloud-based software supporting medical devices such as enteral feeding pumps, thermometers, and compression devices. A significant amount of time in this job is dedicated to developing back-end software to support manufacturing, service, and user interaction software. Working in a cross-functional technical environment, this job requires coordination with manufacturers, business partners, and vendors worldwide to ensure project success.

Nice To Haves

2 years of experience
Bachelor's degree in related field, or equivalent work experience
Backend development, with the ability to work with frontend developers
Development in a regulated environment (medical, banking, aviation)
Experience with any of the following technologies: GCP, Kotlin, PostgreSQL, Flywaydb, Spring-boot, Gradle, Docker, JUnit, OAuth2

Responsibilities

Under general guidance, develop web backend software to support multiple applications
Works closely with designers and customer to develop requirements and functionality
Provide guidance and mentoring to junior developers.
Develop design, requirement and testing documentation
Technical background / understanding of software development technologies and methodologies.
