About The Position

As a Senior Quality Manager within PPG's Aerospace business, you will manage quality assurance and control responsibilities for our Aerospace USCA business across the United States and Canada within our Coatings and Sealants business. You will oversee quality programs for both commercial and military aerospace operations, ensuring compliance with industry standards, regulatory requirements, and customer expectations. As an important member of our regional global quality leadership team, you will foster continuous improvement and a culture of quality excellence. This position is a hybrid work schedule that can be based in Valencia, CA., Dallas, TX., Atlanta, GA., or Shelby, NC. You will report to the Global Quality Director, Aerospace.

Requirements

  • Only U.S. Citizens, Green Card holders, and political asylees or refugees are eligible to apply
  • Candidates must have or be eligible to obtain top secret clearance
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, Quality Management, or a related field
  • 10+ years of experience in quality management, with at least 5 years in chemical, aerospace or automotive industry
  • Experience managing quality for both commercial and military aerospace programs is ideal
  • In-depth knowledge of AS9100, ISO 9001, FAA regulations, and DoD standards
  • Proficiency in quality tools and methodologies, including SPC, RCA, CAPA.
  • Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP) experience, AS9145 highly desired
  • Familiarity with inspection and testing techniques, including NDT and CMM
  • Experience using statistical software (e.g., Minitab, JMP)
  • Certified Manager of Quality/Organizational Excellence (CMQ/OE) or equivalent is ideal
  • Lead Auditor certification for AS9100 or ISO 900 or desire to obtain certification

Responsibilities

  • Manage the Quality Management System (QMS) for aerospace operations in compliance with AS9100, ISO 9001, and other relevant standards
  • Provide strategic leadership for quality plans, aligning with our goals for USCA
  • Lead a team of quality professionals across multiple locations
  • Ensure adherence to FAA, DoD, EASA, and other applicable regulatory requirements
  • Lead internal and external audits, including certification and recertification processes
  • Manage and resolve non-conformances, driving corrective and preventive actions
  • Promote Lean, and other continuous improvement methodologies to enhance quality processes and reduce waste
  • Analyze measurements (KPI's) to identify trends and implement data-driven improvements
  • Lead root cause analysis and implement corrective actions for quality-related issues
  • Conduct risk assessments, including Failure Modes and Effects Analysis (FMEA), to find and address quality risks
  • Develop quality plans for new product introductions and process changes
