About The Position

PPG's Aerospace Business is looking for a Quality Engineering Manager to join our team in Grand Prairie! As the Quality Engineering Manager you will lead the Quality Engineering function at PPG Texas Transparencies. You will manage a team of Quality Engineers and provides ownership of key quality processes including the Quality Clinic, Material Review Board (MRB), Contract Review, and Customer Return Reviews. You will ensures effective defect containment, disciplined problem solving, and compliance with AS9100, customer, and internal quality requirements while partnering closely with Operations, Engineering, and Supply Chain to drive continuous improvement. This is an onsite position working out of our Grand Prairie, TX facility and reporting to the Senior Aerospace Production Quality Manager.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Quality, Manufacturing, or a related technical field.
  • 5+ years of Quality Engineering experience in a manufacturing environment (aerospace preferred).
  • Prior leadership, supervisory, or formal mentoring experience.
  • Strong knowledge of: Nonconformance management and MRB processes, Root cause and corrective action methodologies, Contract review and customer quality requirements.
  • Experience working within a formal Quality Management System (AS9100 or equivalent).

Nice To Haves

  • Aerospace transparencies, composites, or advanced manufacturing experience preferred.
  • Experience with customer audits and customer return investigations preferred.
  • Lean, Six Sigma, or other continuous improvement certification (Green Belt or higher) preferred.
  • Experience with digital quality systems and analytics tools helpful.

Responsibilities

  • Lead, coach, and develop a team of Quality Engineers to support production, problem resolution, and continuous improvement activities.
  • Promote a prevention‑focused, data‑driven quality culture across the organization.
  • Own and manage the Quality Clinic process, ensuring timely containment, disposition, and escalation of nonconforming material.
  • Chair or provide delegated leadership for the Material Review Board (MRB), ensuring technical rigor, risk‑based decisions, and documented justification.
  • Participate in and support Contract Review activities related to quality, inspection, testing, regulatory, and customer‑specific requirements.
  • Lead or support Customer Return Reviews while serving as a key point of contact for customer quality issues, including corrective action responses and follow‑up.
  • Drive structured problem-solving methodologies (e.g., RCCA, 8D, DMAIC, PFMEA).
  • Partner with cross‑functional teams to reduce scrap, rework, and defect recurrence.
  • Use data analysis to identify improvement opportunities and drive long‑term quality performance.
  • Ensure Quality Engineering activities comply with AS9100, customer-specific requirements, and PPG internal procedures.
  • Support internal, customer, and regulatory audits, including preparation, execution, and corrective action follow‑up.
