Join us and help shape the future of aerospace and defense. Hot Section Module Center South (HSMC-S) is a world class fabricator of both military and commercial turbine airfoils. As a Senior Quality Engineer within Pratt & Whitney’s HSMC-S, you will help ensure the quality and performance of critical turbine airfoils used in advanced military and commercial engines. You will serve as a key technical partner to manufacturing and inspection teams, working directly with the shop floor to identify and resolve quality issues, evaluate manufacturing processes, drive root cause and corrective action, and ensure products meet engineering, customer, and regulatory requirements. This role offers the opportunity to apply your quality engineering expertise to complex manufacturing challenges while partnering across functions to improve processes, prevent defects, and strengthen overall product quality. We are seeking a proactive, technically strong self-starter who is comfortable working in a hands-on manufacturing environment and can effectively translate quality requirements into practical, sustainable solutions.

Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree in a STEM or related field and 5+ years of experience in a manufacturing environment, OR an Advanced Degree and 3+ years of experience in a manufacturing environment.
• U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are authorized to access information under this program/contract.

Nice To Haves

• Familiarity with inspection tooling and techniques
• Previous experience with first article inspections (FAI) and reviewing/approving work instructions for the shop floor in a manufacturing environment
• Knowledge / experience with quality systems and standards such as AS9100.
• Strong communication skills and the ability to work within a group setting and interface directly with shop floor operators and inspection personnel
• Proficient in the use of continuous improvement tools, such as relentless root cause analysis (RRCA) and principles of lean manufacturing.
• ASQ – CQE certifications are a plus

Responsibilities

• Serve as a technical quality partner to manufacturing and inspection teams, working directly with shop-floor personnel to identify process risks, resolve quality issues, and ensure turbine airfoils meet engineering, customer, and regulatory requirements.
• Evaluate manufacturing processes and hardware to determine compliance to applicable requirements
• Support day-to-day manufacturing activities such as review and approval of work instructions, process authorization requests (PAR), and first article inspections (FAI)
• Perform analysis of quality nonconformances
• Support shop non-compliance investigations to determine root cause, identify robust corrective actions, and track effectiveness
• Support preparation efforts for third party and customer quality audits
• Support product escape investigations and population bounding efforts
• Construct and perform quality presentations to a technical community
