About The Position

Westland Insurance Group Ltd has an exciting opportunity for a Senior Quality Assurance (QA) Engineer. This is a hybrid opportunity based in our Surrey, BC Head Office. As the Senior Quality Assurance (QA) Engineer, you will play a key role within our Application Development Team, defining and owning end-to-end quality for assigned applications and releases. You will champion an automation-first and AI-augmented testing approach that enhances product quality, reduces risk, and accelerates delivery. You will lead the development of test strategy, quality standards, and automation architecture while embedding quality throughout the development lifecycle and ensuring alignment with secure SDLC practices. You will also provide data-driven release recommendations and mentor QA team members to continuously elevate testing practices across the organization.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience in QA, with a strong focus on test automation and building reliable, scalable test suites across UI, API, integration, and regression testing
  • Comfortable working in Agile (or similar) environments and integrating testing into CI/CD pipelines and secure SDLC practices
  • Experience testing web-based or SaaS applications, including APIs, integrations, and data flows
  • Can write automation code using at least one language (Java, C#, JavaScript/TypeScript, or Python) and have worked with tools like Selenium and Postman
  • Strong problem solver who can troubleshoot issues, analyze root causes, and clearly communicate risks and recommendations
  • Organized, detail-oriented, and proactive, with experience mentoring others, improving processes, and ideally bringing QA/Agile certification or exposure to AI-driven testing tools

Responsibilities

  • Lead and continuously improve an automation-first QA approach by defining test scope, risks, and coverage goals
  • Build and maintain automated test suites (UI, API, integration) and ensure they run reliably within CI/CD pipelines
  • Plan and execute testing activities, provide clear insights, and support release decisions with go/no-go recommendations
  • Track and monitor quality metrics like test coverage, pass rates, and defects to support better decision-making and continuous improvement
  • Troubleshoot test failures, reduce flaky tests, manage defects through resolution, and support UAT readiness and execution
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, contribute to QA ceremonies, mentor team members, and help evolve QA standards, frameworks, and AI-driven testing practices
