About The Position

NextGen AgTech, a product organization supported by In Time Tec, builds web and mobile software for operating feedlots, managing cattle purchasing and transportation, and maintaining financial records for owners and lenders. Their products cover yard operations, animal health, billing, financing, logistics, and reporting across web, iOS, and Android platforms. The role of Senior QA Engineer/SDET is crucial due to the consequential nature of defects, which can impact financial records, animal health workflows, or critical operational decisions. The company is expanding its QA capacity and developing automation to enable faster releases without increasing operational or financial risk. This is a hands-on, senior individual-contributor role focused on owning test strategy and automation architecture for a product suite that includes yard operations, cattle purchasing, and financial workflows. The position involves writing code, making framework decisions, reviewing tests, mentoring engineers, and assessing release risk. The automation practice is in a growth phase, offering the incumbent significant authority over framework and coverage decisions, with responsibility for ensuring maintainability as the product evolves.

Requirements

  • Five or more years of experience in QA or SDET roles, including substantial hands-on test-automation experience.
  • A track record of designing or significantly scaling a production test-automation framework, not just writing individual tests.
  • Deep, practical Playwright or comparable modern automation experience, including fixtures, parallelization, retries, tracing, and reporting.
  • Strong programming or scripting experience in TypeScript, Python, C#, or a comparable language.
  • Experience with API, integration, contract, and CI/CD testing.
  • Strong SQL skills for test-data setup, financial and operational validation, and investigation across application and database state.
  • Risk-based release judgment and the ability to communicate that judgment to technical and nontechnical stakeholders.
  • Experience mentoring engineers and improving how a team designs for testability.

Nice To Haves

  • Mobile automation for native iOS or Android applications.
  • Performance and load testing, accessibility testing, visual regression, or security-testing fundamentals such as the OWASP Top 10.
  • Internal quality tooling, dashboards, or production-telemetry feedback loops.
  • Experience in agriculture, fintech, logistics, or another operationally sensitive domain.

Responsibilities

  • Own end-to-end test strategy, determining what to automate, what should remain exploratory or manual, and where testing investment reduces the most risk.
  • Define Playwright framework architecture, including fixtures, reusable utilities, parallel execution, tracing, reporting, and maintainability standards.
  • Ensure UI, API, integration, contract, and data-layer coverage for critical workflows.
  • Establish release-quality gates and provide risk-based recommendations on software readiness for shipping.
  • Improve CI/CD test health by reducing flakiness, accelerating feedback, and ensuring actionable failure reporting.
  • Conduct root-cause analysis of production incidents and escaped defects, translating findings into durable regression coverage.
  • Develop standards for AI-assisted test design and automation, including human review and coverage-gap analysis.
  • Provide technical mentoring and guidance on testability to QA and development engineers.
