About The Position

This is a senior-level SDET/Performance Engineer role focused on leading and executing automated web performance and load testing for the Property Tax Administration System (PTAS). The role also involves providing support for other high-impact county systems that have peak-load risks, such as Mid-Term Elections (2026), Metro M5, Metro Yard Management, JHS eMAR, TRUECredentials, and PAO Civil Matter Case Management. The engineer will be responsible for designing realistic, secure, and repeatable large-scale tests, analyzing cross-layer bottlenecks (application/API, data, network/F5, Azure), and collaborating with County teams to ensure the reliability of citizen-facing services during peak demand. The position requires occasional after-hours testing, specifically between 8 pm PT and 10 pm PT, which will still fall within the standard 40-hour work week.

Experience with continuous performance monitoring dashboards.
Experience leading the design and execution of high-scale orchestration (simulating 250,000 concurrent users).
Experience with the technical approach for bypassing MFA in automated environments.
Experience developing and maintaining system-specific Performance Test Strategy and Master Test Schedule.
Experience preparing pre-test readiness checklists.
Experience authoring/maintaining scripts/configs in Azure Load Testing (Azure Test Cloud) and one of K6/JMeter/Gatling.
Experience parameterizing data and modeling ramp profiles and failover.
Experience building synthetic/anonymized datasets.
Experience provisioning non-prod test identities.
Experience running controlled peak-load tests.
Experience delivering run reports and publishing RCA + remediation plans.
Experience diagnosing bottlenecks across application/API, DB/cache, F5, and Azure.
Experience issuing system readiness sign-offs.
Experience maintaining runbooks/playbooks.

Responsibilities

Own the performance test program (strategy, plans, assets, runs, reporting) for PTAS, while providing shared coverage for Elections and other named systems.
Integrate automated load/stress tests into CI/CD; deliver repeatable non-prod scale runs that mirror production traffic patterns.
Validate Dataverse/OData API and backend (SQL/Dataverse) performance for PTAS; document baselines and thresholds.
Produce management-ready reports (findings, RCAs, remediation tracking) and readiness sign-offs leading to go/no-go decisions.
Coordinate with Network/F5, CloudOps/Azure, Security/IAM, and application teams; schedule change windows and after hours runs as needed.
Manage the end-to-end performance testing process, from establishing baseline reports during development to lead-testing system capacity under peak loads.
Establish expected response times, throughput, and resource utilization under normal conditions through Performance Baseline Reports.
Simulate varying levels of user traffic to evaluate application performance under peak load and beyond capacity through Load and Stress Test Results.
Pinpoint slow database queries, inefficient code paths, or misconfigured servers through Bottleneck Analysis and Recommendations.
Provide real-time visibility into performance trends across builds and environments using Continuous Performance Monitoring Dashboards integrated with CI/CD pipelines.
Lead the design and execution of high-scale orchestration (simulating 250,000 concurrent users) and the technical approach for bypassing MFA in automated environments.
Develop and maintain system-specific Performance Test Strategy and Master Test Schedule covering PTAS plus Elections, Metro M5/Yard, JHS eMAR, TRUECredentials, PAO.
Prepare a pre-test readiness checklist (data, identities, quotas, observability, rollback).
Author/maintain scripts/configs in Azure Load Testing (Azure Test Cloud) and one of K6/JMeter/Gatling for top workflows; parameterize data; model ramp profiles and failover.
Build synthetic/anonymized datasets; provision non-prod test identities under Security/IAM-approved guardrails.
Run controlled peak-load tests; deliver run report ≤5 business days post-execution; publish RCA + remediation plan ≤7 business days for defects; update dashboards.
Diagnose bottlenecks across application/API, DB/cache, F5 (VIPs/pools/iRules), and Azure (autoscale/quotas); open/track remediation tickets to closure.
Issue system readiness sign-off with thresholds met (response times, error rates, throughput, resilience/failover).
Maintain evergreen runbooks/playbooks (operations, troubleshooting, incident response); store in County repository.
