This role is for a Senior QA Analyst specializing in Data & ETL, supporting clients in the financial services industry. The role involves enhancing team capacity, cultivating camaraderie, increasing velocity through automated and API testing, expanding frameworks, mentoring peers, guiding development as a technical SME, and evaluating candidates during interviews. The day-to-day activities include ensuring team understanding of acceptance criteria, tracking progress, limiting QA kickback, and identifying opportunities to increase capacity and velocity. A current employee describes the role as involving sprint planning, delegating technical work, anticipating client value delivery, managing technical debt, reducing unknowns, syncing with delivery leads, and acting as a technical interface for the client.

Requirements

  • Demonstrable proficiency with desired technologies and tools
  • Genuine fluency writing complex T-SQL from scratch, since ~95% of the work is writing queries to validate data. Includes daily fundamentals like duplicates, joins, primary vs. surrogate keys, query execution order, and reconciliation.
  • Experience validating data source-to-target, including transformations, data completeness, and end-to-end flows against specs and mapping documents.
  • Solid grasp of test cases, test plans, test strategy, positive/negative testing, performance and load testing, and data completeness testing.
  • Comfortable testing SSRS and Power BI output against your own SQL queries.
  • Hands-on across SQL Server, data warehouse, SSRS, and Power BI.
  • 5-8 years professional experience in relevant technology and projects, including ongoing adherence of best practices, leading and executing automated testing for web and mobile applications, and leveraging industry-standard tools to ensure optimal product quality across all stages of the software development lifecycle.
  • Experience presenting to client stakeholders and communicating technical and business value
  • Experience understanding and articulating the business outcomes that your development projects impact
  • Experience with coaching and mentoring, demonstrated through ad-hoc collaboration and structured code reviews.
  • May include intensive programs, Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or an equivalent experience

Responsibilities

  • Enhance the team’s capacity to deliver assigned stories by end of sprint

  • Perform automated testing and API testing for complex applications and scenarios
  • Locate and document edge cases by understanding the depth and intricacies of a project
  • Assess possible risks and propose modifications to the acceptance criteria
  • Demonstrate proficiency at automation, API testing, or accessibility testing principles and solutions
  • Enhance the team's capacity by documenting plans to anticipated risks/blockers, advancing best practices, and mentoring peers and more junior team members
  • Serve as a technical SME in the sprint, ensuring successful delivery of the sprint commitment by prioritizing testing efforts, enhancing acceptance criteria, etc.
  • Conduct recruiting interviews and analyze candidates to ensure successful hiring/contracting
  • Present robust testing plans, metrics, and other valuable insight and direction during sprint review meetings
  • Propose solutions and improvements to clients that improve our ability to deliver value
