About The Position

Software Mind is seeking a Senior Python Developer (Infrastructure) to join their team. This role involves building, migrating, and maintaining a private cloud solution for a government institution in Western Europe. The project is a multi-year engagement with a growing scope. The ideal candidate will become a go-to person for the environment, with a clear path towards a tech lead role, involving technical decision-making, solution direction, mentoring, and future planning discussions. The position requires designing, developing, testing, and deploying new and existing backend applications, collaborating with architects and specialists, migrating workloads, and contributing to future project phases, including scope estimation and pre-sales input.

Requirements

  • Minimum 5 years of commercial experience with Python
  • Experience with CI/CD pipelines and the software delivery lifecycle (GitLab)
  • Testing frameworks (Robot Framework, Pytest)
  • Experience with containers
  • Experience with Linux system administration
  • Infrastructure knowledge (firewalls, reverse proxies, forward proxies, networking — IPv4, IPv6)
  • A consulting mindset: you ask what the business goal is before choosing a solution, you can tell the client "no" and back it with arguments, and you can work with an underdefined scope and close it yourself
  • Ability to build client relationships — keeping trust and engagement in day-to-day work, not only clean communication on status calls

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with Kubernetes (Helm, Kustomize, GitOps)
  • Experience with HashiCorp Vault and Terraform
  • Experience with OpenStack
  • Experience building highly automated public cloud solutions
  • Experience working in a dedicated team or T&M model with a foreign client
  • Experience in managerial roles: Tech Leader, Team Leader, Coordinator etc.
  • Experience as Pre-sales Engineer or in a role with pre-sales exposure

Responsibilities

  • Designing, developing, testing and deploying new backend applications
  • Testing and improving existing backend infrastructure applications
  • Meetings with architects, functional designers and other specialists on system and application design
  • Migrating workloads into the new environment and supporting the platform once it runs in production
  • Contributing to conversations about the next phases of the engagement: scope estimation, technical input into pre-sales documents, and improvement proposals the client actually wants

Benefits

  • Flexible employment and remote work
  • International projects with leading global clients
  • International business trips
  • Non-corporate atmosphere
  • Language classes
  • Internal & external training
  • Private healthcare and insurance
  • Multisport card
  • Well-being initiatives
