About The Position
Altoros, a leading IT services provider, is looking for a Senior Python Developer to lead incident response, perform root cause analysis, and fix backend bugs in a Django application. The role involves tuning infrastructure, resolving compatibility issues, and optimizing the performance of both the application and PostgreSQL database. Additionally, responsibilities include addressing observability gaps, refining runbooks, and making minor DevOps improvements.
Requirements
- 4+ years of commercial experience building and maintaining production-grade backend systems
- Complex systems support
- Deep expertise in Django and Django REST Framework
- Proven experience designing, documenting, and scaling REST APIs, handling authentication, serialization, pagination, and custom middleware
- Strong command of PostgreSQL. Comfortable with schema design, complex query optimization, indexing, transactions, and ORM best practices (Django ORM / raw SQL)
- Hands-on experience with GCP, specifically deploying and managing services on Cloud Run and working with managed databases via Cloud SQL
- Familiarity with GCP logging, monitoring, and basic CI/CD is expected
- Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to directly influence requirement and work independently as required; proactivity
- B2 level of English or higher
Nice To Haves
- Experience with DepOps practices and tools
- Admin panel development history using Django
- Experience with HTML, CSS, TS / JS
Responsibilities
- Lead incident response (primary), ensuring timely triage and resolution within agreed SLAs
- Perform root cause analysis (RCA)
- Investigate and fix backend bugs in the Django application, including post-launch and integration-related issues
- Tune infrastructure and adjust system configurations to improve reliability and stability
- Resolve dependency compatibility issues across application and infrastructure layers
- Optimize performance of both the application and PostgreSQL database — query tuning, indexing, caching, and connection management
- Non-Core (but inevitable) Observability gaps remediation
- Runbook refinement
- Minor DevOps improvements
