About The Position

The Department of Healthcare and Family Services, Division of Child Support Services is seeking a highly qualified and motivated individual to serve as Child Support Account Reconciliation Operations Bureau Chief. This position plans, directs, and evaluates the operation and activities of the bureau as well as developing, recommending, and implementing policies and procedures. The position also monitors and confirms implementation of the intake and the sanctioning processes while monitoring adherence to federal and state laws, rules, and regulations. The ideal candidate will have excellent communication, organizational, and analytical skills. The candidate will demonstrate their dedication to teamwork, the ability to work in a fast-paced, ever-changing environment, a strong supervisory background including experience managing a large staff, managing large scale operations, and the desire to promote and provide quality services on behalf of the State of Illinois. Requirements

  • Requires knowledge, skill, and mental development equivalent to completion of four (4) years of college
  • Requires prior experience equivalent to four (4) years of progressively responsible administrative experience in a public or business organization

Nice To Haves

  • Three (3) years of professional experience utilizing statistical analysis to evaluate organizational performance
  • Three (3) years of professional supervisory experience assigning work, providing guidance to subordinates, recommending counseling and/or discipline following collective bargaining agreements, training staff and approving time off
  • Three (3) years of professional experience developing, interpreting, and implementing policies and procedures for a Child Support program
  • Three (3) years of experience ensuring organizational compliance with federal and state laws, rules, and regulations related to child support
  • Three (3) years of professional experience communicating in verbal and written form with internal and external colleagues and stakeholders
  • Three (3) years of developing and directing special projects in a private or public organization
  • Three (3) years of professional experience consulting with management in the development and reviewing of legislation pertinent to Child Support programs

Responsibilities

  • Serves as the Child Support Account Reconciliation Operations Bureau Chief by planning, directing, and evaluating the operation and activities of the bureau
  • Serves as a full line supervisor
  • Reviews and evaluates programs and procedures
  • Develops and monitors an on-going process for review and modification of current support orders which adhere to federal and state specifications
  • Establishes working relationships with other state, local, and public agencies and with the Attorney General’s Office and other members of the legal community regarding the prosecution and handling of cases referred by the bureau
  • Attends meetings and conferences with the Division Administrator, Deputy Administrator, Director, and other management staff in the agency
  • Consults with management in the development and review of legislation pertinent to the programs of the bureau
  • Plans staff utilization and development
  • Performs other duties as required or assigned which are reasonably within the scope of the duties enumerated above
