About The Position

Boston College is seeking a Senior/Prospect Development Analyst to join the University Advancement team. This role provides crucial insights for prospect identification, fundraiser portfolio construction, relationship management, and overall prospecting strategies. The analyst will collaborate with a team of professionals possessing diverse skills in prospect research and management, delivering internal consulting services to the advancement organization. This position may involve close work with frontline fundraisers.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree.
  • 1-3 years of related professional experience for the first-level Analyst; 3-5 years for the second-level Analyst; or 5+ years for the Senior level.
  • Ability to interpret, analyze, and summarize biographical and financial data.
  • Understanding of databases.
  • Ability to analyze and present data.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Provide detailed written research on constituents for Development staff and University leadership.
  • Evaluate the philanthropic capacity of prospective donors.
  • Monitor various research sources including websites, government documents, newspapers, databases, wealth screenings, and leads from development staff.
  • Partner with gift officers to establish new portfolios, refine existing ones, and manage portfolio transitions.
  • Utilize data to enhance prospect discovery efforts and prioritize donors for qualification by development staff.
  • Analyze gift officer portfolio activity to assess the success of outreach strategies.
  • Foster a process-oriented mindset within the Prospect Development team, potentially documenting procedures, centralizing resources, and improving efficiency.
  • Proofread the work of other Prospect Development team members for clarity and accuracy.
  • Create ad-hoc lists and deliverables for individuals and teams across the organization to inform strategy.
  • Utilize CRM querying tools for various requests, including ad-hoc prospect lists or batch uploads.
