A leading real estate investment and management organization is seeking a Senior Property Accountant to join its growing property accounting team. This is a great opportunity for an experienced commercial real estate accountant who enjoys owning the financials for a portfolio, partnering with property management, and gaining exposure to complex lease and capital activity. The Senior Property Accountant will be responsible for financial reporting and accounting for assigned properties, including month-end close, reconciliations, CAM recoveries, budgeting, and cash flow analysis. This role offers broad exposure across property accounting, treasury, leases, and capital projects.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field preferred
  • 5–7 years of progressive accounting experience within commercial real estate or property management
  • Strong knowledge of tenant leases, CAM/operating expense recoveries, and rent collection procedures
  • Strong proficiency with MRI
  • Proficiency in Excel and commercial real estate accounting systems
  • Strong communication, organization, and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to manage priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment

Responsibilities

  • Prepare monthly financial statements, journal entries, accruals, reconciliations, and variance analyses
  • Prepare annual CAM and real estate tax budgets and reconciliations
  • Support accounts payable, accounts receivable, and lease administration activities
  • Assist with annual budgets and semi-annual forecasts
  • Prepare audit workpapers and support internal, external, and tenant audits
  • Manage treasury activities and prepare monthly cash flow analysis
  • Review complex lease agreements and related commission calculations
  • Support capital projects, lender funding requests, and other ad hoc financial analysis
