Senior Project Manager, Global Supply Chain (LiDAR & Optical Circuit Switches)

Voyant Photonics•New York, NY
•$130,000 - $190,000•Onsite

About The Position

Voyant Photonics is seeking a Senior Project Manager dedicated to supply chain to build and operate the global supply chain for its LiDAR and optical circuit switch (OCS) product lines. The role owns supply chain projects from prototype sourcing through high-volume manufacturing, coordinating wafer foundries, packaging and test partners, component suppliers, and contract manufacturers across North America, Asia, and Europe. The position works closely with engineering, operations, quality, finance, and customers to ensure products can be built on time, at target cost, and at scale. As an early member of a growing startup, the Senior Project Manager will set strategy while also handling hands-on daily work, including procurement and receiving. The role covers sourcing strategy, supplier selection, capacity, cost, delivery schedules, procurement, logistics, global supplier management, demand and capacity planning, NPI-to-volume transitions, supply risk mitigation, cost management, supplier quality and change control, trade compliance, systems and metrics, and executive and stakeholder communication. The work spans products moving from prototypes through EVT/DVT/PVT into mass production. Voyant is based in Midtown Manhattan, where the team works from a lab and office combining optical tables, lab benches, electronics, and traditional office space. Work is hands-on and primarily in person, with a flexible schedule rather than a rigid 9-to-5 to accommodate customers across time zones. The company describes its environment as high-trust and high-accountability, with meaningful ownership, fast-paced work, and employees often taking on more than one role. Voyant provides catered lunch daily at its headquarters and is an equal opportunity employer committed to a diverse and inclusive workplace.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Supply Chain Management, Operations, or a related technical field.
  • At least 8 years of experience in supply chain, procurement, operations, or project management for hardware products.
  • At least 5 years of experience scaling complex hardware to volume production with global suppliers.
  • Direct experience with wafer foundries, OSATs, and contract manufacturers, ideally in photonics, optoelectronics, or semiconductors.
  • Proven experience managing suppliers in multiple regions, including Asia, and leading commercial and technical negotiations.
  • Strong command of demand and capacity planning, S&OP, and ERP/MRP systems, with the ability to build data-driven models and translate them into decisions.
  • Mastery of schedule, budget, and risk management for cross-functional projects spanning engineering, operations, and external partners.

Nice To Haves

  • MBA or Master's degree.
  • Experience with automotive or industrial quality and supply standards such as IATF 16949, AEC-Q qualification, and APQP/PPAP.
  • Familiarity with hyperscaler supply requirements, customer supply agreements, and data center qualification standards such as Telcordia GR-468.
  • Experience sourcing lasers, photodetectors, fiber assemblies, micro-optics, MEMS, or other optoelectronic components.
  • Hands-on use of PFMEA, control plans, change control, and PCN management to maintain a stable multi-tier supply base.
  • Working knowledge of export controls, tariffs, country-of-origin rules, and multi-region manufacturing footprints.
  • Experience managing contract test houses, including test transfer, correlation, and capacity planning.
  • APICS/ASCM CPIM or CSCP certification, or PMP certification.
  • Comfort with ambiguity, a bias toward action, and willingness to take on varied work in a fast-moving startup.

Responsibilities

  • Lead end-to-end supply chain projects for LiDAR and OCS, including sourcing strategy, supplier selection, capacity, cost targets, and delivery schedules aligned with product NPI milestones.
  • Handle daily procurement and shipping and receiving, including placing and expediting purchase orders, issuing RFQs, tracking deliveries, receiving and inspecting incoming materials, managing inventory and stockroom accuracy, and packing and shipping prototypes, samples, and customer orders.
  • Build procurement and logistics processes from the ground up and scale them as the team grows.
  • Manage relationships with silicon photonics foundries, OSAT and packaging partners, contract manufacturers, and key component suppliers.
  • Run quarterly business reviews and supplier scorecards, and lead commercial and contract negotiations.
  • Run the sales and operations planning (S&OP) process and translate customer forecasts into wafer starts, assembly and test capacity, and inventory plans that account for long lead times.
  • Drive manufacturing transfers, line qualification, yield ramps, and second-source qualification as products move from prototype through EVT/DVT/PVT into mass production.
  • Identify and mitigate single-source, capacity, geopolitical, and tariff risks; develop dual-sourcing strategies, buffer inventory plans, and business continuity plans for critical parts.
  • Own BOM cost roadmaps, should-cost models, and cost-down programs; track landed cost, including freight, duties, and yield loss, against product cost targets.
  • Partner with quality engineering on supplier qualification, PPAP-style releases, product change notifications, corrective actions, and engineering change control across the supply base.
  • Oversee global logistics, Incoterms, customs, and country-of-origin requirements, and ensure export control and trade compliance obligations are met.
  • Build and scale supply chain processes and tools, including ERP/MRP, BOM management, and supplier portals.
  • Define and report KPIs such as on-time delivery, lead time, inventory turns, supplier yield, and cost versus plan.
  • Provide clear status, risk, and decision briefings to executives, the board, customers, and cross-functional teams.

Benefits

  • Catered lunch every day at headquarters.
