About The Position

Sabot Consulting is seeking a Senior Project Manager with extensive FI$Cal experience to support the California Department of Justice (DOJ) during its transition, onboarding, and post‑implementation activities for the Financial Information System for California (FI$Cal). This role will focus on enterprise‑level ERP project management, stakeholder coordination, change management, and ensuring successful adoption of FI$Cal across DOJ business units.

Requirements

  • Minimum 7 years of progressively responsible Project Management experience, including senior‑level leadership on large, complex IT or ERP projects.
  • At least 6 years of direct FI$Cal experience (within the last 10 years), including system onboarding, go‑live, and post‑implementation support for State of California agencies.
  • Experience managing or supporting enterprise financial or ERP system transitions within California State Government.
  • Active Project Management Professional (PMP) certification (required).
  • Strong experience with project scheduling, risk and issue management, change control, stakeholder facilitation, and executive reporting.
  • Proven ability to operate effectively in complex, multi‑stakeholder public sector environments.

Nice To Haves

  • 7+ years of FI$Cal experience supporting multiple State departments or constitutional agencies.
  • Master’s degree in Business Administration, Public Administration, Information Systems, or a related field.
  • Experience working with DOJ, CDT, or other large control agencies.
  • Familiarity with CA‑PMF, PMBOK, and State financial or legislative compliance requirements.
  • Prior experience supporting SAP‑based or large‑scale ERP implementations underlying FI$Cal.

Responsibilities

  • Lead project management activities supporting FI$Cal onboarding, go‑live, and post‑implementation stabilization for DOJ.
  • Develop, maintain, and execute comprehensive Project Management Plans aligned with DOJ PMO standards, CA‑PMF, and PMBOK practices.
  • Create and manage detailed project schedules, Work Breakdown Structures (WBS), deliverable trackers, and milestone plans using Microsoft Project and MS 365 tools.
  • Coordinate and facilitate stakeholder engagement across DOJ divisions, FI$Cal program teams, system integrators, and executive leadership.
  • Identify, track, and mitigate project risks, issues, and dependencies; manage formal change control processes and impact assessments.
  • Prepare and deliver executive‑level reports, status updates, Steering Committee materials, and project documentation.
  • Support organizational change management, communications, training coordination, and readiness activities related to FI$Cal adoption.
  • Oversee knowledge transfer, SOP development, and project close‑out activities to ensure long‑term operational sustainability.
