About The Position

Timmons Group is hiring a Senior Project Manager for its Geospatial Solutions Development division, based in Richmond, Virginia, or working remotely. It also owns contract financial management, including budgets, change orders, forecasts, and monthly invoicing. Candidates may come from consulting firms or state or local government, provided they have managed technology projects and vendor partnerships.

  • Experience serving as the main link between an agency and its technology partners on multi-year programs.
  • Experience running concurrent workstreams, including legacy modernization alongside ongoing support and enhancements, and sequencing shared people across them.
  • Hands-on contract and financial management experience, including budgets, invoicing, change orders, and public-sector procurement.
  • Strong advisory and communication skills, with the tenacity to keep work moving through difficult situations.
  • Comfort using AI tools in day-to-day work.
  • Familiarity with Azure DevOps, Microsoft 365, Basecamp, and Smartsheet, or comparable tools.

  • PMP or agile certifications.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the primary client contact, from day-to-day coordination through executive status reviews.
  • Advise the client on trade-offs and priorities across new development, enhancements, support, and modernization.
  • Address difficult conversations early, including scope disputes, slipping dates, and funding constraints.
  • Manage an integrated plan across concurrent workstreams and sequence shared people and environments.
  • Hold teams to commitments, remove blockers, escalate issues, and keep work moving.
  • Select an agile, predictive, or hybrid delivery approach for each workstream.
  • Manage risks, issues, dependencies, and decisions.
  • Partner with business analysts, engineers, QA, UX, and architects to build the backlog and release plan.
  • Balance support and maintenance requests against planned project work, including SLA commitments.
  • Coordinate releases, client UAT, and go-live readiness.
  • Own budgets, burn, and forecasts for each contract and task order.
  • Prepare monthly invoices and resolve billing questions with the client.
  • Price and negotiate change orders and new statements of work.
  • Lead or support additional client engagements as assigned.
