About The Position

The Center for Policing Equity (CPE) is seeking a seasoned Senior Project Manager to lead a high-visibility initiative aiming to improve health equity for women of color. This role oversees deliverables across complex workstreams, including survey and dashboard development. Reporting directly to the Portfolio Manager, the Senior PM works in close partnership with the Senior Science Advisor who serves as the project owner. The Senior PM leverages expertise in project management methodologies (e.g., Agile) to navigate scope, schedules, and stakeholder alignment, while ensuring timely risk mitigation. The Senior PM should be a sharp and thorough communicator who can rapidly synthesize the project subject matter and serve as a trustworthy bridge between CPE and our external client. Additionally, as the operational lead, this role will help move the project forward through diligent oversight of administrative workflows such as scheduling meetings and notetaking. This is a temporary part-time non-exempt position, averaging 30 hours per week, and has a projected end date of June 30, 2027.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience
  • 4+ years of project management experience
  • Demonstrated experience with project management methodologies and tools
  • Ability and willingness to adapt and apply new tools and processes in a maturing organization
  • Proficient in project management software and strong organizational skills
  • Ability to handle ambiguity and juggle multiple priorities at the same time
  • Ability and willingness to adapt to change
  • Strong communication skills (both written and verbal)
  • Strong commitment to racial justice and passion for CPE’s mission

Responsibilities

  • Support the Senior Science Advisor’s project oversight by proactively managing the scope, timeline, and budget in alignment with the signed work agreement.
  • Build, track, and monitor the project plan, in Asana, with milestones, tasks, and relevant dependencies outlined.
  • Collaborate with the Senior Science Advisor to monitor project goals and success metrics.
  • Coordinate with the full project team, including internal and external stakeholders to monitor progress on, and blockers to, project deliverables.
  • Identify and escalate risks and mitigation strategies in a timely manner, coordinating with the appropriate stakeholders to successfully resolve them.
  • Generate agendas for recurring project team meetings, making sure to incorporate enough lead time for input.
  • Document key decisions and needs during internal and external project meetings, ensuring timely follow-up on next steps.
  • Maintain clear and consistent communication with the project team and leadership stakeholders through written and verbal updates.
  • Organize and maintain up-to-date project documentation to support collaboration between all members of the project team.
  • Facilitate an effective project close process, holding a retrospective and ensuring all relevant files are accurate and accessible to stakeholders, and that any information needed to inform future scopes of work is readily available.
  • Coordinate cross-functionally with other PMO team members to ensure project resource allocation is balanced against other project priorities.
  • Consult regularly with the Portfolio Manager to discuss project progress and (where necessary) adapt project management strategies.
  • Other duties as assigned by the Portfolio Manager.
