About The Position

RE Management Solutions (REMS) is an owner's representative and project management consulting firm serving Fortune 250 utility clients across the electric and gas distribution and transmission sectors. We partner with major utilities to plan, permit, and deliver capital construction projects safely, on schedule, and on budget — acting as a trusted extension of our clients' own project organizations. REMS is seeking an experienced Senior Project Manager to lead electric transmission and distribution capital projects for a major U.S. utility client, from initial scoping through engineering/design, permitting, construction, testing/commissioning, and project close-out. This is a client-facing leadership role: you will be the single point of accountability for your assigned project(s), coordinating engineering contractors, construction contractors, and internal utility stakeholders to keep work moving safely and on track. This role is ideal for a utility project management professional who is comfortable owning a project end-to-end and stepping into an established utility capital-project environment with minimal ramp-up time.

  • Demonstrated ability to independently manage a project from initial study through construction close-out
  • Strong knowledge of utility construction, permitting, and quality assurance/quality control processes
  • Experience coordinating multiple stakeholders — engineering contractors, construction contractors, and utility client staff — simultaneously
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including experience producing executive-level status reporting
  • OSHA 30-hour certification (or ability to obtain promptly)
  • Valid driver's license and willingness to travel to project sites as needed

Nice To Haves

  • PMP certification
  • Direct experience with a major U.S. investor-owned utility construction project standards and procedures
  • Familiarity with Primavera P6 scheduling and earned value management (EVM) reporting

Responsibilities

  • Establish and manage an integrated project delivery approach spanning design/engineering, permitting, construction, testing, and commissioning
  • Develop the Project Execution Plan, including scope, org structure, roles/responsibilities, communication protocols, and quality management approach
  • Build and maintain the project's detailed master schedule; identify schedule risks and improvement opportunities
  • Produce weekly project status reports and monthly executive-level cost and progress updates
  • Lead cross-functional coordination across engineering, construction, project controls, sourcing, environmental, and security teams
  • Facilitate project meetings (kickoff, status, change order review, planning) and ensure timely, high-quality meeting documentation
  • Own the project's risk management plan and change control process, including review and negotiation of change orders
  • Lead permitting activities from identification through acquisition, compliance, and close-out
  • Coordinate required outages and lead final energization/tie-in activities
  • Maintain on-site presence during active construction phases, including safety oversight and contractor coordination
  • Ensure all design and construction work aligns with current utility engineering standards
