About The Position

Dewberry is seeking a Senior Project Manager - Civil/Highway for major public clients in their New York City office. This role involves the technical design and multidisciplinary management of complex infrastructure projects with a range of construction values. The ideal candidate will have at least 10-15 years of civil-related design experience, including project management, and established experience with key New York public agencies. The Civil Engineering Group handles diverse projects such as site civil, street reconstruction, highway, transit, waterfront reconstruction, resiliency, multi-use pathways, traffic improvements, drainage, utilities, and SOGR design. Collaboration with architecture and other engineering disciplines is essential. Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering is required.
  • Project Management experience leading complex engineering projects is required.
  • 10-15 years of experience in civil engineering design, including experience with agencies such as NYSDOT, NYCDDC, NYCEDC, NYCDOT, NYCDEP and NYCDPR on delivering constructed designs.
  • Working and active knowledge of AASHTO, MUTCD, Unified Stormwater Design, MS4/USWR, SWPPP, and NYC Building Code requirements related to civil discipline.
  • Working knowledge of civil design procedures, agency standards and permitting is required.
  • Experience with developing engineering proposals.
  • Experience in developing scope, budget and schedule for projects.
  • Must be a licensed NY PE.
  • Experience working with public agencies is required.
  • Strong leadership and communication skills and the ability to work in a fast-paced team environment with multiple deadlines.
  • Must be a self-motivated with initiative, drive and determination.
  • A clean driving record is required.

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s degree in Engineering is preferred.
  • Ability to manage multi-disciplined teams is a plus.
  • Experience with AutoCAD, Microstation, and/or Civil 3D is strongly preferred.
  • Experience with Design-Build project delivery is preferred.
  • Additional PE license on other states including having a NCEES Record is also a plus.
  • Working with the private sector is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Oversees, mentors and assigns tasks to mid-level and junior engineers.
  • Prepares scope, budget, and schedule for projects or tasks within projects.
  • Manages project budget, schedule and performs technical quality control.
  • Leads multidisciplinary project pursuits and develops proposals for them.
  • As the project manager, coordinates with and manages work of other disciplines in the project, including Architecture, Structural, Geotechnical, Architectural, Environmental and MEP.
  • Communicates effectively with client and contractor to ensure goals are met.
  • Schedules, leads and attends meetings, conducts site visits/field inspections.
  • As the civil lead, oversees, produces engineering calculations, reports, construction drawings and specifications.
  • Participates in business development activities including developing new client relationships, client presentations and other similar activities.
