About The Position

AECOM’s Buildings and Places team in Ohio is looking for a Senior Architect to take on the role of a Project Manager. The Ohio B+P practice—based in Columbus and Cleveland—is a high‑performing, award‑winning studio offering integrated architecture, interiors, engineering, urbanism, advisory, technology, and digital delivery services. Operating collaboratively across AECOM’s West Region and other business lines, the Ohio team serves a diverse, global client base spanning civic, cultural, higher education, science and technology, transit, and federal agencies (including NASA, GSA, VA, and DoD). The Architectural Project Manager provides senior leadership across client development, project delivery, and team leadership, owning outcomes from pursuit through post‑occupancy. This is a seller‑doer role requiring strong client presence, technical expertise, and operational rigor.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Architecture, Engineering, or a related field and 6+ years of relevant experience (or equivalent combination of education and experience)
  • Valid driver’s license

Nice To Haves

  • 10+ years of relevant experience
  • Architectural licensure preferred; engineering licensure considered with architectural project leadership experience
  • PMP certification or equivalent
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office; strong working knowledge of Microsoft Project and Power BI
  • Demonstrated leadership, communication, and collaboration skills
  • Experience with complex new construction and major renovations
  • Expertise in advanced project management practices (earned value, change management, target value design, schedule management)
  • Strong organizational, time‑management, and communication skills
  • Business development experience with existing and new clients
  • Knowledge of alternative delivery methods (Design‑Build, CMaR, etc.); DBIA certification a plus
  • Interest or experience integrating AI into architectural and engineering services

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the primary client contact; build trust and long‑term relationships
  • Lead pursuits (RFQs/RFPs), including strategy, scope, teams, fees, and terms
  • Deliver revenue growth through repeat and expanded client engagements
  • Represent AECOM in the marketplace as a trusted advisor and brand ambassador
  • Lead interdisciplinary projects from early studies through construction administration
  • Manage scope, schedule, budget, quality, and risk across the project lifecycle
  • Develop and maintain project plans, performance metrics, and documentation
  • Proactively manage change and coordinate with legal and leadership to mitigate risk
  • Inspire, mentor, and coordinate high‑performing internal and external teams
  • Foster a collaborative, inclusive, and communicative team environment
  • Support recruiting and development of emerging and peer leaders
  • Champion design quality, innovation, and performance at all scales
  • Encourage modern delivery approaches, including AI and digital tools
  • Monitor and report project financials, schedules, deliverables, and client health
  • Apply earned value, schedule controls, and other best‑practice PM techniques
  • Utilize Microsoft Project and Power BI for planning and performance reporting
