About The Position

Worley is supporting their client's Sustaining Capital Program through the delivery of project management services and multidisciplinary engineering and design. Our team provides engineering support for a diverse portfolio of sustaining capital and operational improvement projects within an active brownfield aluminum smelter environment. We are seeking a motivated and career-oriented individual who is eager to develop their technical and professional skills while contributing to a high-performing project team. In this role, the Project Manager is accountable for the safe, predictable, and successful delivery of sustaining capital and operational improvement projects for the client's Sustaining Capital Program. The role leads projects from concept and study phases through engineering, procurement, construction, commissioning, and handover, ensuring delivery of business objectives while meeting safety, quality, cost, and schedule targets. This position is site-based in Kitimat, British Columbia and requires the successful candidate to relocate to/reside in either Kitimat or Terrace, British Columbia.

Requirements

  • Demonstrated success in client relationship management and stakeholder engagement.
  • Strong understanding of project controls, cost management, and scheduling principles.
  • Senior-level supervisory, project management, and technical experience in mining and heavy industrial sectors.
  • EPCM (Engineering, Procurement, and Construction Management) delivery experience within the mining industry.
  • Proven capability in the management and promotion of safety across all project phases.
  • Familiarity with project controls software (e.g., Primavera P6, Microsoft Project) and document control systems.
  • Certification such as PMP (Project Management Professional) or equivalent.
  • Experience leading a small team of junior engineers or designers.
  • Bachelor's Degree in a related field.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver projects safely and in accordance with approved scope, budget, schedule, and quality requirements.
  • Lead multidisciplinary project teams through all phases of the project lifecycle, from project identification and development through to commissioning and handover.
  • Monitor project performance, proactively managing risks, opportunities, scope changes, and resource requirements to achieve successful project outcomes.
  • Ensure effective cash flow management, forecasting, and cost control across assigned projects.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with customer stakeholders, ensuring alignment on project objectives, priorities, and delivery strategies.
  • Provide trusted advice and leadership to stakeholders to improve project delivery outcomes and support capital planning initiatives.
  • Facilitate effective communication, issue resolution, and decision-making across all project stakeholders.
  • Champion Safety in Design principles, ensuring risks are identified, assessed, and reduced to As Low As Reasonably Practicable (ALARP).
  • Lead project risk management activities and ensure appropriate mitigation strategies are implemented throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Ensure key project assurance and engineering studies are completed as required.
  • Ensure appropriate engineering and project resources are assigned and effectively utilized throughout project execution.
  • Drive technical and project development decisions that optimize safety, operability, constructability, technical integrity, and lifecycle cost.
  • Lead interface management between engineering, procurement, operations, construction, and commissioning teams to ensure seamless project execution.
  • Support stakeholders in identifying and developing projects that address safety, environmental, reliability, and operational improvement requirements.
  • Participate in risk assessment and project identification workshops, including FMEA and other asset risk reviews.
  • Ensure design reviews involve all relevant internal and external stakeholders and that project requirements are fully captured.
  • Coordinate procurement, equipment supply, and construction contract activities to meet project schedules and delivery objectives.
  • Develop construction, installation, commissioning, and handover strategies in conjunction with Operations and Construction stakeholders.
  • Prepare and maintain project and portfolio performance reports, including schedule, cost, risk, resource, and forecast reporting.
  • Ensure completed projects are successfully commissioned, handed over to Operations, and closed out in accordance with customer and company requirements.
