Purpose: Manage and coordinate multidiscipline engineering activities for Power Networks projects, including transmission, distribution, substation, and grid infrastructure scopes, to ensure work is executed safely, efficiently, cost effectively, and on schedule. Serve as the primary technical coordination interface with clients, utilities, contractors, and project stakeholders to ensure expectations, project requirements, and technical deliverables are clearly understood and achieved. Ensure Power Networks projects conform to the client’s approved Basis of Design, applicable utility standards, regulatory requirements, industry codes, and Worley quality expectations.

Requirements

  • Substantial technical, practical, and leadership experience in Power Networks project engineering, including transmission, distribution, substations, grid infrastructure, utility coordination, engineering deliverables, commercial awareness, and contractual requirements.
  • Experience with transmission line, distribution, substation, protection and controls, SCADA/telecom, or grid modernization projects
  • A recognized engineering degree in Electrical Engineering, Civil Engineering, or a related discipline, or equivalent Power Networks project experience.

  • Professional Engineer (PE) status or ability to obtain licensure

Responsibilities

  • Maintain HSE focus within the project team and ensure safety, constructability, environmental, and operational requirements are incorporated into design, procurement, construction support, testing, and commissioning activities.
  • Establish, maintain, and strengthen client and utility relationships through proactive communication and reliable delivery.
  • Proactively resolve technical, scope, schedule, constructability, and performance issues with the client and internal project teams as they arise.
  • Identify, document, communicate, and meet client requirements, including technical specifications, design criteria, permitting considerations, outage constraints, and project deliverables.
  • Effectively manage assigned budgets within Worley’s scope, including engineering hours, design deliverables, procurement support, construction support, and change impacts.
  • Ensure compliance with Worley project management processes, the Project Execution Plan, and Power Networks delivery requirements.
  • Ensure compliance with contract requirements, client standards, applicable codes, project specifications, and technical scope commitments.
  • Apply effective change control processes, including identification, documentation, communication, and resolution of scope changes and technical deviations.
  • Contribute to the development, maintenance, and progress reporting of project schedules, including engineering deliverables, procurement support, utility coordination, outage planning, and construction milestones.
  • Supervise and coordinate engineering work in accordance with the approved schedule, addressing risks and constraints before they impact delivery.
  • Monitor cost aspects of assigned Power Networks scope, forecast final costs, identify trends, and take action to avoid cost overruns or schedule-driven cost impacts.
  • Contribute to compliance with Worley policies, procedures, quality systems, client standards, and applicable Power Networks technical requirements.
  • Utilize, as appropriate, strong working knowledge of engineering, procurement, project controls, and document management systems and procedures.
  • Focus the project team on achieving key milestones, technical deliverables, quality expectations, and project objectives.
  • Listen to the team, discuss issues, resolve problems, and direct activities to remove roadblocks and achieve project objectives.
  • Regularly provide clear project reports, status updates, technical updates, and risk summaries to project management and client stakeholders.
  • Communicate effectively with design teams, utilities, contractors, vendors, construction teams, and third-party stakeholders.
  • Provide accurate, timely, and effective reporting to the Project Manager regarding scope, schedule, budget, quality, risks, and deliverable status.
  • Monitor, communicate, and support closure of identified project risks and opportunities, including technical, safety, constructability, outage, permitting, procurement, and schedule risks.
  • Set clear objectives for the design team, including productivity, quality, budget, schedule, safety, constructability, and client deliverable expectations.
  • Ensure the design team is aware of and complies with the client’s Basis of Design, utility standards, applicable regulations, codes, specifications, and project execution requirements.
  • Manage inter-discipline interfaces effectively, including electrical, civil/structural, protection and controls, SCADA/telecom, environmental, procurement, and construction support.
  • Support procurement and subcontract activities by reviewing technical specifications, vendor submittals, material requirements, equipment lead times, bid evaluations, and construction package needs to ensure goods and services meet project requirements, schedule, and budget.
