About The Position

The Senior Project Engineer is responsible for the design, development, and execution of capital projects within a food manufacturing facility. This role requires a thorough understanding of federal and local regulations concerning environmental and food safety compliance. The Senior Project Engineer will supervise and execute projects, manage project budgets and schedules, oversee new project start-ups, and coordinate all project phases with relevant departments. Additionally, this role involves collaborating with the manufacturing team to identify and recommend process and/or equipment improvements.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical, chemical, or process engineering or other related science/food science subjects.
  • 5 or more years of Engineering and/or maintenance experience in a manufacturing environment, preferably within food production and with multi-site exposure.
  • Well-developed people skills with the ability to engage and promote individual involvement.
  • Proven ability to work collaboratively within a project team.
  • Excellent organizational and time-management skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Demonstrated sound judgment, resourcefulness, initiative, and innovation in handling complex technical assignments with minimal supervision.
  • Resilience and ability to work within a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
  • Detailed and logical thinker who can analyze and evaluate information to develop alternative solutions.
  • Ability to make informed decisions based on analysis completed.
  • Industry knowledge of food manufacturing equipment and processes.
  • Pertinent work experience within food manufacturing environments and sanitary standards required for food processors.
  • Competent in Engineering design, preferably within a food environment.
  • Evidence demonstrating strong project management skills with the ability to lead multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Contract and bid management skills.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office tools.
  • Able to decipher and understand PID and process flow drawings.
  • English required.

  • Ideally able to work with CAD software.
  • Spanish beneficial.
  • Preferably IOSH or NEBOSH qualified.

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and execute capital projects in a food manufacturing facility.
  • Ensure thorough understanding of federal and local regulations regarding environmental and food safety compliance.
  • Supervise and execute projects, establish and meet project budgets, and schedule project activities.
  • Supervise new project start-ups and coordinate all phases of projects with all departments.
  • Work closely with the manufacturing team to identify opportunities for process and/or equipment improvements and make recommendations.
  • Promote a safe work environment by adhering to Health & Safety and Environmental policies and procedures, and OSHA regulations.
  • Deliver projects on time and within budget in accordance with the CAPEX Budget, meeting set deliverables.
  • Lead multiple projects from conception through completion simultaneously.
  • Design projects in accordance with regulations, site, and project requirements, considering operational needs and future business requirements.
  • Manage project budgets independently, ensuring costs are accurately tracked and expenditures adhere to agreed CAPEX values.
  • Provide technical guidance to the PGP site operations team.
  • Analyze project options and benefits to provide detailed business cases.
  • Provide suggestions to site teams with proposed solutions and clear reasoning.
  • Troubleshoot implemented projects to resolve issues.
  • Ensure projects are delivered in accordance with quality, health, and safety standards, and meet state and federal regulations.
  • Prepare CAPEX submissions with clear business cases and project justifications.
  • Manage stakeholders, including CAPEX approvers, and provide necessary project justification.
  • Manage projects independently with minimal supervision.
  • Take on project ideas and lead and deliver projects independently.
  • Travel for training, trade shows, equipment factory acceptance trials, and visits to other PGP locations.
