About The Position

The successful Senior Project Engineer candidate will be working on several projects simultaneously with different customers and end item applications. Additionally, the candidate may be responsible for leading Integrated Product Teams (IPT's) consisting of different functional engineering groups, Quality, Materials, Operations and Procurement to drive delivery of products within an approved budget and schedule. Senior Project Engineer will play a critical role in driving project execution while meeting both internal and external customer expectations. This position requires interaction with our customers including delivery of technical documentation. The candidate will drive the execution of all engineering responsibilities on the program while meeting both internal and external customer expectations. Direct communication with customers will be required. This position requires strong interpersonal and communication skills (both verbal and written), technical experience, and the ability to work as cross-functional team member.

Requirements

  • Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and minimum 5 years prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 3 years of experience
  • This position is considered safety sensitive in accordance with NASA Guidelines. Candidate will be subject to drug and alcohol testing per NASA’s regulation SUBPART 1835.5 Drug- Free Workforce
  • U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are authorized to access information under this program/contract.

Nice To Haves

  • BA/BS in Mechanical, Electrical or Chemical Engineering degree
  • MA/MS in Mechanical, Electrical Engineering or Chemical Engineer or MBA degree
  • Prior experience in related Engineering discipline(s)
  • Experience with environmental control hardware

Responsibilities

  • Drive world class Project Engineering process using integrated scheduling, earned value management, and risk and opportunity management
  • Work collaboratively with other Engineering disciplines (Systems, Software, Mechanical, and Electrical), Programs, Production, Quality and Supply Chain to develop an integrated execution plan to satisfy customer requirements across applicable operating conditions
  • Facilitate Project Engineering tasks with the various functional organizations to ensure alignment with overall project objectives.
  • Track team’s integrated execution performance to plan
  • Analyze, identify, and address execution problems, recommend and implement resolutions to ensure the successful completion of project(s)
  • Forecast project revenues, monitor costs, and re-estimate project costs monthly to maximize project profitability and ensure business objectives are met
  • Maintain and present plans and progress reports relating to business aspects of the project(s) to track progress and ensure that established targets are met.
  • Balance demands of multiple projects
  • Work autonomously with limited oversight from manager
  • Support root cause investigations and corrective actions for field returns and production issues
  • Develop bids based on customer proposal requests
  • Participate in continuous improvement efforts for project execution efficiency
