Position Summary: This position is flexible in location and can be based near a domicile plant within the designated region. This position will report to the VP, PM & Eng Services. Projects will be assigned by the PMO Manager under the authority of the VP, PM & Eng Services. The Senior Project Engineer will collaborate closely with PMO Manager via matrixed organization structure to ensure project management best practices and standards are followed. The Senior Project Engineer will work closely with a cross-functional team, including operations, quality, safety and other stakeholders, to develop project scope, specifications, timelines, budget and deliverables. Responsible for managing project risks ensuring compliance with safety and quality standards, and driving project to completion on time and within budget. Maintains project schedule by monitoring project progress, coordinating activities, and resolving problems. Controls project plan by reviewing design, specifications, and plan, scheduling changes, and recommending actions. Controls project costs by approving expenditures and administering contractor contracts. Strong leadership and communication skills are essential, as this position will be guiding teams through each phase of the project life cycle, from initiation to final handover. He or she will have a proven track record managing and delivering complex projects with budgets of $15M or greater.

Requirements

This position must satisfy ITAR compliance requirements, therefore candidates must be U.S. Citizens or Permanent Resident Card Holders.
Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering and a minimum of 10 years’ experience within an industrial environment or 15 years’ experience in project management.
Proven record of managing and delivering multiple projects ranging in level of complexity and budgets of $15M or greater including equipment installs, brown field and green field projects, on time and within budget while maintaining original scope of work.
Must have a solid understanding of general industrial equipment’s and systems.
Must be able to read and interpret complex schematics and blueprint.
Must demonstrate the ability to read, write and communicate the English language.
Strong computer skills (Word, Excel, MS Project, Power Point, Teams)
Must have or be willing to obtain PMI certification as a CAPM or PMP.
Must be self-directed individual, capable of evolving in a multi-project environment by prioritizing their workload.
Ability to travel by road or air up to 75 percent of the time.
Strong knowledge and understanding of contract language.
Demonstrated success implementing or leading world-class processes, such as lean manufacturing.
Must be able to work in a sitting position for extended periods of time (at desk, while driving, and/or on airplane travel) in an office/industrial environment.
Manual dexterity to perform data entry functions.
Ability to bend, pull, stoop and reach to perform functions.
Ability to lift 25-30 lbs.
Must have the cognitive and mental capacity to perform essential job functions.
Must be able to communicate effectively orally and in writing.
Visual acuity to read documents, computer screens, files, etc.
Ability to hear in person and via phone.

Nice To Haves

Experience with AutoCAD is a plus.

Responsibilities

Act as a deputy to the VP, PM & Engineering Services, supporting prioritization, escalation, and execution of key ADE initiatives.
Serve as acting leader for the PM & Engineering function in the absence of the VP, ensuring continuity of execution, communication, and decision-making.
Lead cross-functional alignment across Operations, Engineering, EHS, and Finance to ensure successful project execution and organizational alignment.
Drive accountability across project teams by establishing clear ownership, follow-up cadence, and timely escalation of risks and issues.
Mentor and coach project engineers and TPM resources to strengthen project management capability and consistency across ADE.
Support development and deployment of standardized project management tools, governance processes, and reporting across all regions.
Facilitate Integrated Product Team (IPT) reviews and ensure effective stakeholder engagement, communication, and action tracking.
Provide leadership in complex or high-risk projects, stepping in as required to stabilize execution and drive resolution.
Partner with VPOs and GMs to align capital execution with business priorities, plant-level strategies, and growth plans.
Support development of the TPMO capability, including training, best practice sharing, and continuous improvement initiatives.
Act as a key communication link between site teams and ADE leadership, ensuring clear visibility to project status, risks, and opportunities.
Connect teams together in order to structure project opportunities.
Developing project plans, schedules, and timelines
Creating cost estimates and managing budgets during project life cycle.
Ensuring that technical specifications are met, and solving technical problems as they arise.
Track changes associated with scope, specification, schedule and budget and execute change requests
Maintains risk register, identifying potential risk and develop mitigation strategy to minimize, re-direct or eliminate project delays and disruption.
Ensuring that the project meets quality standards
Ensuring that safety standards are met and maintained on-site
Coordinating with stakeholders, clients, and teams
Ensuring that the project complies with all legal requirements, codes, and guidelines
Identifying potential problems and leading the team to develop solutions
Preparing project progress reports for leadership team and stakeholders. Report on a weekly basics the status of her/his project form all aspects.
Supervising the work of contractors and engineers, Provide field support during the execution phase, start-up and commissioning of equipment.
Participate into the development and deployment of the PM & lockout/tagout procedure with the maintenance team by providing technical feedback and expertise as part of the deliverables.
Interface with equipment manufacturers in order to maintain a positive working relationship and remain current on new equipment capabilities and technology advancements.
Develop and maintain a sustainable relation with vendors, supplier and contractors.
Provide a valuable communication link to all levels of Bodycote, from site leadership through executive management.
Must have the ability to report for work on time, follow directions, interact effectively with co-workers, understand and follow rules and procedures and accept constructive criticism.
May have access to proprietary and third party information necessary to the business and as such will perform duties in an ethical and professional manner.
