About The Position

V2X is growing! The Project Engineering Department is seeking a Senior Project Engineer III for our Platform Systems Integration (PSI) section in Indianapolis. As a senior technical leader and integrator, you’ll drive successful project execution for critical air-based systems and foster cross-disciplinary collaboration among diverse, innovative engineering teams. This role offers the opportunity to demonstrate technical, strategic, and team leadership, helping shape project approaches and ensuring that our solutions are delivered on schedule, within budget, and to exacting quality standards.  A successful candidate will support all phases of the fast-paced development process, working across disciplines to support the development of technical solutions and supporting a multi-discipline team that includes Systems, Hardware, and Software Engineering functions, as well as other non-Engineering disciplines such as Production, Supply Chain, and Quality Assurance. The Project Engineer will work in a fast-paced environment providing technical leadership to design, develop, and deliver products to support the lifecycle of the program.

Requirements

  • Citizenship and ability to obtain a Secret Security Clearance.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Microsoft Project, risk management tools, and advanced project data management solutions (Azure DevOps, Windchill, GitHub).
  • Proficient in systems engineering practices including requirements definition, architecture, integration, verification/validation, and configuration management
  • Demonstrated experience with advanced project management techniques, including earned value management (EVM), cost management, and resource optimization.
  • Strong technical and process leadership skills, with proven ability to mentor and develop junior team members.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication abilities for both technical and non-technical audiences, including customer-facing interactions.
  • Strong prioritization, decision-making, and problem-solving skills in high-stakes, dynamic environments.
  • Experience leading cross-functional project teams and coordinating integration across hardware, software, and production/operations disciplines.
  • 5–8 years of progressive engineering that also includes technical project management responsibilities.
  • Previous experience as a technical lead or project engineering lead on complex or high-visibility defense platforms or systems.
  • Advanced understanding of multi-disciplinary systems and risk management processes in accordance with industry standards (PMI, IEEE 15288, ISO 9001).
  • Experience with proposal capture, bid reviews, and supplier technical management. Demonstrated ability to drive process improvements and implement new execution methodologies.
  • Experience creating and managing Backlogs in Azure DevOps or similar.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee the full spectrum of project delivery to ensure execution aligns with technical, schedule, and cost requirements.
  • Lead technical project estimation, planning, and resource management for complex, multi-disciplinary projects.
  • Own project assessment and control, using measurement, analysis, and key performance indicators (KPIs) to track and adjust execution as necessary.
  • Lead comprehensive risk management, including identification, analysis, planning, mitigation, and monitoring of technical risks.
  • Serve as the key technical point of contact with internal stakeholders, management, and external customers for project status, issues, and strategy.
  • Lead technical reviews and project communications, present progress, risks, and results to leadership and customer organizations.
  • Champion technical management activities such as trade studies, architectural decisions, and complex problem-solving.
  • Mentor junior engineers and serve as an escalation point for technical challenges and project decision-making.
  • Lead cross-functional teams in tailoring project development approaches, including both predictive/waterfall and adaptive/Agile methodologies.
  • Drive supplier technical oversight, ensuring compliance with engineering requirements and fostering effective partnerships.
  • Support proposal development and review, responsible for technical content, basis of estimate development, and bid/no-bid recommendations.
  • Foster a culture of technical excellence, continuous learning, and collaboration, modeling V2X Values in every interaction.
  • Participate in forecasting future engineering staffing needs and support engineering-wide resource planning as needed.
