About The Position

Waggoner Engineering, Inc. is hiring a Senior Project Engineer to lead a multidisciplinary team in providing quality planning, design and technical assistance to Discipline Managers across both water and transportation in delivering projects within budgetary and time constraints. The hybrid position will be located in Hernando, MS. Waggoner has more than doubled in size over the last five years and growth is expected to significantly increase through the addition of talented personnel. Requirements

  • Licensure as a Professional Engineer (PE) or ability to obtain licensure as a PE in other states where Waggoner practices, within 90 days.
  • 6+ years of related engineering and design experience
  • Certifications applicable to civil engineering
  • Knowledge of applicable federal, state, and local laws and regulations pertaining to the practice of engineering and the implementation of public works infrastructure projects.
  • Proficient in design using MicroStation, AutoCAD Civil 3D, Geopak and Open Roads, and other DOT approved software.
  • Advanced knowledge of MS Office including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Project.

Responsibilities

  • Performs engineering analysis and design (2D and 3D) for a variety of projects that may include: Roadways, intersections and related infrastructure, including new construction and rehabilitation. Water distribution systems and sanitary sewer collection system. Hydraulic modeling. Pump station modeling and analysis. Water and wastewater treatment.
  • Lead a small team of junior engineers.
  • Prepares construction plans, specifications, and contract documents for contracting and bidding of construction projects.
  • Conducts assessment and evaluation of existing system conditions and develops recommended remedial measures.
  • Performs construction phase engineering, including periodic on-site reviews, in collaboration with Construction Services team.
  • Maintains and documents written and verbal communications with clients throughout the development and completion of a project.
  • Conducts project status review with project manager and team members, checking accuracy of work completed, and monitors timeliness of project completion.
  • Prepares engineering studies and reports.
  • Provides technical guidance and training to members of the project team.
  • Prepares project design using sound engineering principles, engineering software and tools.
  • Assists Project Manager in assuring quality control procedures are performed.
  • Maintains responsibility for adherence to applicable codes.
