About The Position

Lead and coordinate all Balance of Plant (BOP) mechanical engineering activities for the Monark-D Program. Serve as the primary technical lead for mechanical systems, ensuring integration across engineering disciplines, suppliers, utilities, procurement, construction, and commissioning teams from project development through operational readiness.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering; P.Eng. designation required (PMP considered an asset).
  • 10+ years of engineering experience, including previous experience in nuclear, power generation, oil & gas, heavy industrial, or infrastructure projects.
  • Demonstrated leadership of multidisciplinary engineering teams and experience working with utilities, EPC contractors, and major equipment suppliers.
  • Strong expertise in Balance of Plant (BOP) mechanical systems, including: Cooling water systems (circulating, once-through, service, fire, raw, demineralized, and potable water); Pumps, hydraulic systems, heat exchangers, tanks, pressure vessels, and packaged mechanical equipment; HVAC, ventilation, chilled water, and heating systems; Plant utilities, auxiliary systems, and underground water/piping networks; Mechanical equipment procurement, vendor management, and technical bid evaluations; Nuclear auxiliary systems and multidisciplinary design integration; Construction support, commissioning, startup, and performance testing.
  • Proven ability to manage complex mechanical interfaces, support project execution, and deliver engineering solutions that meet technical, schedule, cost, and operational requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Lead mechanical BOP design strategy, technical requirements, engineering priorities, and key design decisions.
  • Oversee engineering integration and delivery of: Cooling, service, fire, raw, demineralized, and potable water systems; HVAC, ventilation, chilled water, and heating systems; Auxiliary systems such as compressed air, nitrogen, fuel oil, lubrication, chemical feed, and waste processing; Mechanical equipment including pumps, heat exchangers, tanks, pressure vessels, and packaged equipment; Process, cooling water, underground, and utility piping systems.
  • Coordinate interfaces with Civil & Structural, Electrical, I&C, Nuclear Island, Conventional Island, Construction, Procurement, and Vendors.
  • Support utility and customer interactions, including technical workshops with OPG and Bruce Power.
  • Lead procurement support activities, including technical specifications, bid evaluations, supplier assessments, and vendor management.
  • Monitor engineering progress, schedules, cost estimates, risks, and project milestones.
  • Support construction, commissioning, startup, performance testing, and resolution of field technical issues.
