About The Position

Collins Aerospace is seeking a Senior Project Engineer, Manufacturing Process to provide technical leadership in the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of manufacturing processes that support both new product introduction and current production programs. In this role, you will lead cross-functional engineering initiatives, collaborate with Manufacturing, Quality, Operations, and Supply Chain teams, and drive process improvements that enhance safety, quality, cost, and delivery performance. This is an individual contributor position. Your mission: to lead complex manufacturing engineering projects, optimize production processes, and ensure technical solutions support operational excellence while meeting customer and business objectives. You must be residing in Puerto Rico at the time of starting employment. Relocation is not offered.

Requirements

  • Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and a minimum of 5 years of prior relevant experience.
  • Demonstrated professional or educational experience communicating in English and Spanish (verbal and written).
  • U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are authorized to access information under this program/contract.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience supporting aerospace, defense, or other highly regulated manufacturing environments.
  • Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, or continuous improvement methodologies.
  • Experience with root cause analysis and structured problem-solving tools.
  • Familiarity with manufacturing process validation, PFMEA, Control Plans, and Statistical Process Control (SPC).
  • Experience working with ERP systems such as SAP.
  • Experience supporting new product introduction (NPI) and manufacturing transfers.

Responsibilities

  • Lead manufacturing process engineering projects from concept through implementation and production support.
  • Serve as the technical lead for manufacturing process improvements, ensuring projects are delivered on schedule, within budget, and meet quality objectives.
  • Develop, optimize, and validate manufacturing processes to improve productivity, efficiency, and product quality.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams including Manufacturing, Quality, Design Engineering, Supply Chain, and Operations to resolve complex technical challenges.
  • Translate product design requirements into robust manufacturing processes and technical work instructions.
  • Drive root cause investigations and implement corrective and preventive actions for manufacturing issues.
  • Support new product introductions by developing manufacturing plans, tooling requirements, and process validation activities.
  • Provide technical guidance and mentorship to engineers and manufacturing personnel on process improvements and best practices.
  • Evaluate manufacturing risks and implement solutions that improve safety, quality, cost, and delivery performance.
  • Present technical updates, project status, and manufacturing performance metrics to leadership and key stakeholders.
