About The Position

This position is accountable for supervising the construction of specially assigned highway construction projects within a specified geographical area of the district. The Illinois Department of Transportation is seeking to hire Senior Project Engineers. Requirements

  • Current registration as a Licensed Professional Engineer in Illinois OR current registration as a Licensed Structural Engineer in the state of Illinois.
  • Four years of experience in civil engineering.
  • Valid driver's license.
  • Occasional districtwide travel.
  • Successful completion of a background screening.

  • Ability to develop and maintain cooperative relationships with departmental staff and supervise subordinate personnel.

Responsibilities

  • Supervises projects to ensure they are constructed according to plans and specifications.
  • Completes accurate and timely documentation of all work.
  • Trains, motivates, and evaluates subordinate personnel.
  • Supervises time considerations on projects.
  • Oversees the equipment that is utilized by staff.
  • Performs duties in compliance with departmental safety rules.
  • Perform all duties in a manner conducive to the fair and equitable treatment of all employees.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
