SENIOR PROJECT ENGINEER (CIVIL ENGINEER IV)
About The Position
This position is accountable for supervising the construction of specially assigned highway construction projects within a specified geographical area of the district. The Illinois Department of Transportation is seeking to hire Senior Project Engineers. Requirements
- Current registration as a Licensed Professional Engineer in Illinois OR current registration as a Licensed Structural Engineer in the state of Illinois.
- Four years of experience in civil engineering.
- Valid driver's license.
- Occasional districtwide travel.
- Successful completion of a background screening.

- Extensive knowledge of modern methods and techniques as applied to the design, construction and maintenance of public works.
- Ability to develop and maintain cooperative relationships with departmental staff and supervise subordinate personnel.

Responsibilities
- Supervises projects to ensure they are constructed according to plans and specifications.
- Completes accurate and timely documentation of all work.
- Trains, motivates, and evaluates subordinate personnel.
- Supervises time considerations on projects.
- Oversees the equipment that is utilized by staff.
- Performs duties in compliance with departmental safety rules.
- Perform all duties in a manner conducive to the fair and equitable treatment of all employees.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
