About The Position

Zachry Engineering Corporation (ZEC) is seeking a detail-oriented Senior Project Controls Specialist with strong Primavera P6 scheduling experience for engineering projects. The role is based in the Houston Briar Park office and supports a challenging project for a well-known industry client. The specialist produces and maintains internal and external cost and schedule functions for assigned projects while ensuring compliance with company standards.

Requirements

High school diploma and previous experience in other functional areas.
At least 10 years of project controls experience, focused on the Energy and Chemicals engineering industry.
Experience developing and maintaining engineering schedules.
Proven experience leading project controls efforts on assigned projects.
Understanding of basic project management principles.
Excellent general understanding of Cost Management, Estimating, and Change Control.
Excellent working knowledge of project management software, specifically Primavera P6, Microsoft Project, and Excel.
High degree of computer literacy.
Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to interact with staff at all levels.
Problem-solving skills and the ability to resolve complex situations with appropriate management.

Responsibilities

Assist the project manager in developing the project scope of work for required Project Controls tasks.
Study relevant project documents to prepare schedules.
Work with project and discipline personnel to prepare schedules.
Convert the scope of work into a logically linked, resourced project schedule.
Prepare realistic, achievable schedules using logical networks and, where necessary, integrate engineering, procurement, and construction schedules, with emphasis on engineering and procurement.
Develop progress curves and manpower histograms.
Monitor progress against the project schedule and prepare progress reports.
Collect expended man-hours and prepare Earned Value reports and analysis.
Prepare, review, and ensure timely issuance of relevant reports to stakeholders.
Advise project management and discipline personnel verbally and in writing about impacts and contingencies, and guide scopes toward the earliest possible finish.
Provide realistic resource forecast data at project and corporate levels.
Provide input into the budget forecasting process.
Train, encourage, and guide planning engineers and junior and assistant personnel.
Manage the cost discipline to ensure accurate, timely control and forecasting of man-hour budgets, and assess and include the impacts of change requests in schedules.
Participate in schedule and project risk analysis as required.
Analyze progress and its effects on the schedule, and advise on necessary corrective actions.
Lead project meetings and make presentations.
