About The Position

As a Senior Project Architect on the Perkins&Will team, your skills and passion will come to life through leading all phases of the design process with a high level of proficiency and expertise. This role requires adherence to firm and project goals and standards of excellence in design, project management, execution, and living design. The Senior Project Architect will understand and respond to technical implications, design decisions, and project financial goals. This position involves leading and participating in project documentation development, the production of deliverable drawings and specifications, and overseeing Quality Control reviews at each phase for conformance with firm standards, contractual obligations, and project design intent. The role also includes directing project Quality Assurance efforts, ensuring effective project coordination among internal disciplines and external consultants, and communicating with clients on technical matters. Additionally, the Senior Project Architect will oversee project regulatory reviews and submissions, ensure efficient team performance of construction contract administration, maintain awareness of evolving building technology, contribute to marketing pursuits, lead collaborative teams in design reviews, and mentor staff.

  • Professional Accreditation in one area of Living Design that interests you: LEED AP with Specialty, BREEAM AP, WELL AP, SITES AP, Passive House Institute Certified Passive House Consultant/Designer CPHC/CPHD, or ILFI Living Future Accreditation
  • Architectural license
  • Bachelor's degree in architecture or related discipline required

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for leading all phases of the design process with a high level of proficiency and expertise while adhering to firm and project goals and standards of excellence in design, project management, execution and living design.
  • Understand and respond to technical implications, design decisions and project financial goals.
  • Lead and participate in project documentation development and the production of deliverable drawings and specifications.
  • Oversee and manage Quality Control reviews at each phase for conformance with firm standards, contractual obligations and project design intent, with a focus on quality, accuracy, legibility, completeness and constructibility.
  • Direct project Quality Assurance efforts and responsible for adherence with Perkins&Will standards.
  • Accountable for effective project coordination efforts among internal disciplines (architecture, interior design, landscape architecture) and with external consultants.
  • Communicate with clients related to project technical matters.
  • Oversee project regulatory reviews (building code, accessibility, zoning) and coordination with, and submission to, authorities having jurisdiction.
  • Ensure effective and efficient of team performance of construction contract administration responsibilities.
  • Maintain awareness of evolving building technology and engineering systems relevant to project work.
  • Contribute to project marketing pursuits, proposal preparation and interviews.
  • Lead collaborative teams in design reviews, charettes and pin-ups.
  • Demonstrate strong and effective communication, decision making and collaboration, which inspires high team performance.
  • Mentor staff and provide oversight of assignments.
