About The Position

Goodwyn Mills Cawood (GMC) is seeking a Senior Project Architect to lead impactful architectural projects, with opportunities available in our Columbia, Greenville, and Charleston, SC offices. In this role, you’ll drive technical execution and play a key part in delivering exceptional projects from start to finish, guiding project teams, coordinating with clients and consultants, and ensuring design excellence throughout every phase of delivery. You’ll collaborate with a talented, multidisciplinary team to support projects from early planning and conceptual design through construction administration, bringing expertise in technical documentation, coordination, and problem-solving to each assignment. Requirements

  • Bachelor of Architecture or Master of Architecture from an accredited architectural program
  • Minimum of 10+ years of relevant experience
  • Registered Architect or completed NCARB Program
  • Proficient in Revit
  • Must be able to listen and communicate effectively
  • Must be a self-starter, team player and able to establish good working relationships with clients, consultants, contractors, team members, and other employees
  • Strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to balance multiple projects and meet deadlines
  • Ability to adapt to changing business needs
  • Ability to use good judgment and make timely decisions

Responsibilities

  • Leads project team working within the GMC Architecture Community framework respecting team structure, project roles and responsibilities, and utilization of production tools and standards.
  • Member of multi-office architecture practice sharing, contributing, and learning best practices for delivering exceptional projects that include local government/civic, academic and healthcare.
  • Broad general knowledge of architectural principles and practices, and proven ability to apply them.
  • Ability to function effectively within multi-disciplinary teams.
  • Ability to work on multiple projects of moderate size or portions of major projects.
  • Understanding of the entire project process-development/scoping, design, and construction.
  • Ability to design and detail a complete project, system component or process.
  • Prepares complete project documents including the Project Manual/Specifications
  • Understands economic and decision analysis principles in area including financial, regulatory, and environmental issues.
  • Proficient in Revit Architecture, and complementary design tools.
  • Assigns tasks to and directs architects, technicians, and administrative staff.
  • Plans and coordinates detailed aspects of the architectural work.
  • Prepares scopes, budgets and schedules for assignments.
  • Independently performs most assignments with instructions as to the general results expected.
  • Interacts with clients, customers, officials, contractors, and others.
  • Attends project meetings and presents specific aspects of architectural assignment.
  • Demonstrates leadership skills and continuous improvement with decision-making time management and delegation.
