Requirements

  • Minimum 3+ years of project accounting and invoicing experience, preferably in the AEC industry.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field, or equivalent experience.
  • Microsoft Office proficiency in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
  • Ability to prioritize and maintain high level of detail.
  • Fully comprehends project accounting.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to effectively collaborate with architect teams and other departments.
  • Ability to read, write and understand English for purposes of comprehending written job-related communications and verbal instructions and interactions.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with Deltek ERP preferred.
  • Experience with third party expense and invoice approval accounting software preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Performs Project Accountant duties including project set up and maintenance, entering contract amounts and client billing with contextual understanding as to how these activities integrate with financial performances and reporting.
  • Ensures data integrity of accounting system and ensures cost data is allocated correctly.
  • Demonstrates experience and full understanding of area of specialization through resolving a wide range of issues in creative ways.
  • Works on problems of diverse scope, up to and including complex issues, where analysis of data requires evaluation of identifiable factors.
  • Reviews and analyzes financial data from reports to identify budget variances and work with project managers to control financial risk.
  • Research and reconcile cost accounting discrepancies in projects.
  • Responds to requests of the Principals and Project Managers related to project phasing, contracts, billings, and reporting.
  • Proactively seeks improvement to the efficiency and effectiveness of workflows.
  • Educates, supports and collaborates with the Architectural staff in their financial understanding of project performance.
  • Builds partnerships with project team by providing strategic direction and guidance at the weekly/monthly account review meetings.
  • Researches and provides data/reports for special financial projects.
  • Participate in continuous process improvement efforts and create/update documentation as needed.
