About The Position

We are looking to add a Senior Programs Underwriter to join our Innovative Program Solutions team in West Des Moines, IA. This team member will build a portfolio of IPS business collaborating with a supportive internal team with agent and carrier professionals. You will have the opportunity to help create and continuously improve underwriting guidelines, efficient workflows and operational processes that deliver optimal value for clients and partner stakeholders. In this role, you will exhibit the ability to understand client business operations and apply underwriting expertise to create best in class risk solutions and services.

Requirements

  • High school diploma; college degree preferred.
  • Minimum 5-7 years of underwriting or relevant insurance experience.
  • Active state specific Property Casualty Insurance agent’s license required or the ability to acquire license within three months of hire.
  • Programs and Insurance Knowledge, Principles, & Practice: Develops and applies deep expertise in program and insurance principles to deliver a world-class client experience, collaborating with agents and carriers to create differentiated value while contributing to strategy, informing stakeholders, and ensuring regulatory compliance.
  • Relationship Management: Actively fosters relationships by seeking to understand appropriate parties, prioritizing problem solving, and collaborating to deliver unique and impactful solutions.
  • Critical Thinking & Execution: Ability to analyze, interpret, and evaluate information from multiple sources and make connections between logical ideas and the bigger picture to objectively and rationally craft and execute innovative solutions to intricate challenges.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and negotiate price, coverage terms and conditions for all new and renewal business generating profitable and sustainable growth.
  • Collaborate with agents and brokers and align with carrier appetite and IPS guidelines.
  • Manages and underwrites an IPS portfolio of business.
  • Conduct regular program reviews, audits, and performance assessments to identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, internal policies, and delegated underwriting authority agreements.
  • Contribute to strategic planning, including program development, expansion opportunities, and product innovation.
